food safety for kids

We will be travelling with a 2.5 year old. First time. Should we worry about her getting sick for the food? Does the hotel rooms in the Holiday Inn have minifridges so we can take some of our own food like milk?

I can't comment on the HI having a fridge but it doesn't matter. Aruba has the same food and drinks that we have including milk. 3 great grocery stores near the lo rise hotels.Over the last 15 years brought 6 kids down including infants and never had a problem.

Hi Lidia - Aruba has every American product you can possibly need. We take our children with us since they were 1- 4 months and 2 - 2 years. These kids are not 89 and 16 and they still come to the island every year. I strongly suggest that you take a cab over to one of the three major supermarkets and get whatever it is you want from American milk to snacks to fruit and veggies. The mini-mart in the Holiday Inn will have some things but they are very expensive and they don't carry fresh American milk. You can request a frig at the hotel but I am sure they will charge you for it. Fill the ice bucket up and put milk and juice in there to keep it cold just in case you cannot get the frig. If you want to take your child out to eat there is Wendy's, McDonalds and things like that - even Pizza Hut. You really won't have a problem.

When we stayed at the Holiday Inn last Dec. there was not a fridge in the room. Maybe they are available upon request (possibly for a charge?). I would e-mail the hotel with your questions.

I would go to LaCabana, they have a kitchen (full) and everything you would need. We go for 2 weeks and eat in some of the time. You can't beat the price, you get a suite for the price of a hotel room. www.lacabana.com We don't have kids when we're there, but if we did, that is where we would go. Good Luck.

Going to aruba in november with 8 month old. Do you have more advice? Can you bring in baby food? What about passports? Do you have to get one to travel? Help!!!

If you are an American Citizen you will not need a passport. (Just birth certificate with raised seal and government issued ID)Although it is always best to have and travel with a passport. So, get one for future trips! Also, yes - you can bring in baby food, but you can also buy baby food at any grocery store in Aruba. You will be amazed how American Aruba is.... You will enjoy it so much! It is the best place for babies - kids of all ages! Have fun!
