Help me decide hotel for our family vacation!

We will be a family of 2 adults my husband and myself and my 13 yr old son and 17 yr old nephew coming at end of July for 7 nights. Questions about what area to stay. I see that palm beach area is a lot of activity which would be good for the boys who are into water sports and beach fun. I have looked into Hyatt and Radisson but open to other suggestions. They like a pool that has either a waterslide or is large enough to have some fun in. I also looked at the Renaissance ocean suites and the private island looks great also. We have never been to Aruba and just guess I want some opinions on which would be the best area for us. They aren't really into shopping but would like to have restaurants to walk to and maybe some shops. Would they be ok with Renaissance area if we decided on there? any suggestions would be appreciated!

the ocean suites are a good choice.
the rooms are a bit tired and in need of renovations
but the private island is the bomb!
awesome location downtown and within spitting distance of movies, subway, dunkin donuts and other shopping and dining

Radisson is great thru MCM Tours. Great prices on packages which includes airfare, hotel, transfers, beverage credit, breakfast, lunch. Also has a great pool area and is located in a great stretch of Palm Beach.

    Welcome to the forum

There are a number of terrific choices. I would read through these posts for further information

    Hotels/Timeshares with Water Slide?

    Family Hotels

best place for family of 5

To help with ideas for things to do

Plenty to do for 13 year olds?

    entertaining the teens

I would suggest first deciding which beach you wish to stay on and then narrow down resort selection from there. The Tamarijn and Radisson are both excellent choices. We too use MCM Tours/Players Choice http://www.aruba4u.com and they have terrific specials right now for the Radisson.

Once you have narrowed down your selections let us know and maybe we can help you further.

With a 13 yr and 17 yr old, I think you'd be much happier in Palm Beach. That area has gotten so built up recently - with the malls and restaurants, etc. They will never be bored!

Palm beach has many motorized water sport vendors too. Jet skis, para-sailing, tubing and such.
Aruba where the toughest question each day is "where to dine tonight".

Found a great rate for the Westin. Wasn't thinking of staying there was leaning more toward Radisson, Marriott or Hyatt but the rate was about $50 less a night at Westin. What are the thoughts on Westin? Would that be a good choice or is it worth it to pay the extra for radisson or others?

I have heard good things about the Westin...

The only thing you may want to think about is location. The Westin is at the Southern end of the High Rises -- and the same with the Marriott which is all the way at the Northern end. It is still within walking distance - but 10 - 15 minutes from the center of everything. Hyatt/Radisson are centrally located.
