infant plane tix

Does anyone know we will need to purchase a plane ticket for an infant sitting in our laps to aruba? If so, how much? I know domestic flights are free, but info on flights to aruba is appreciated. Thanks

If your child is under 2 and flying as a lap, baby, there is no need for a ticket. Our
grandaughter, age 13 months flew to Aruba in January as a lap baby and the only charge was the tax for the ticket plus the airline did send my daughter a ticket for her showing the tax was paid. We flew US Air. i would suggest you check with the carrier you are flying with to see what their rules are for lap babies.

Continental charges $10.00 for the child. It was some service fee. We just returned on 3/2/05 and my son (age 15 mo) has flown on continental without a purchased seat for the last two trips.

How many seats have you purchased?
If the flight is not full ask for one aisle and one window, they may not fill the center seat and you can have a bit of extra space.

We have a 5-yr old daughter and purchase three seats, 2-aisle and one window. We were fortunate on our first trip and the center seat remained open. This year we had a full flight, requested three consecutive seats, and my little one was on my lap both ways.

good luck

The fee charged is the departure tax for international flights.

I was a little nervous about my son sitting on my lap, I purchase the Baby B'air. It's a seat belt for him that attaches to my seatbelt.

Re: infant plane tix

Thanks everybody. I've been looking online and it appears they are charging about $120 extra for a lap baby. I'll have to call the airlines directly.

Is he allowed the 50 lbs of luggage similar to an adult passenger, or is his stuff included in our luggage weight roll up?

Re: infant plane tix

All you will pay for is the tax for the infant...which is about $11.00
There is no $120.00 fee!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you love your kid but 4 hours plus on your lap???? Doesn't sound like fun to me.
Remember most cabin attendants will tell you to put the kid back on your lap if the seat is empty next to you. It's a matter of their jobs and the company making money

For children under 2 you only have to pay the tax which is about $10 to $15 dollars. You do not have to pay the Aruban Departure Tax which is $34.25 or Security fee.

Re: infant plane tix

In response to Al's commment about "4 hours on a plan/lap with a child".....We just took our 13 month old to Aruba and it was her 1st flight (and she sat on our laps). She did GREAT!!! And it was not a bother to anyone, including the other passengers. She took her naps and played with toys we brought for her. 4 hours is nothing.
Take you children and enjoy!!!!
