We have stayed at the Renaissance with young children and I would highly recommend it. The ocean suites are very kid friendly with fast food and grocery stores only a few steps away from the hotel. The private island is fantastic and sets this resort apart from many of the others. The kids will love the short boat ride to the island. The beach there is beautiful and safe, there are no waves and the swimming area is protected by a circle of rocks. There are plenty of chairs and shady spots to sit and there is a restaurant right on the beach where you can get a reasonably priced lunch and watch the iguanas walk around. This would be a great choice for travel with a 2 and 4 year old. We have stayed there on our last 2 visits and were very happy. We are trying out the Tamarijn this time and I will let you know how that is when we return in December.
