nanny recommendations?

Will be at the Marriott from April 10=19 with a 3 month old. Looking for a sitter and the Marriott said they would supply one. Just wondering if anyone has used their service and if they would recommend someone in particular. I am basically looking for a mother's helper to sit on the beach with me and also take her up for nap times.

Re: nanny recommendations?

FORGIVE ME, BUT ARE YOU KIDDING? IF YOU INSIST ON TAKING YOUR 3 MONTH OLD TO ARUBA, I WOULD THINK YOU WOULDN'T TRUST ANYONE WITH HER/HIM. I KNOW I WOULDN'T. JUST MY OPINION. I WAS KIND OF SHOCKED BY THAT!

Re: nanny recommendations?

I said a mommy's helper not someone to dump my kid off for the day. I want someone to help out. I don't plan on leaving her alone!! AND......I don't recall asking your opinion on how to parent!

Re: nanny recommendations?

Tracy: You totally contradicted yourself with your statements....

"Need someone to take her up for naptimes" but then you responded to Paula saying "I don't plan on leaving her alone." So do you plan on being upstairs with her as well?

A 3 month old with a TOTAL STRANGER? You have got to be out of your mind or you just don't care about leaving your 3 month old daughter with just anyone so that you can relax on the beach, etc. I'm sorry to sound so harsh but I am totally floored that someone would actually leave their 3 month old with a stranger so they can relax. If you need someone to help out while on vacation, sounds like you should'nt go on vacation if you can't handle your child yourself and/or with your husband/boyfried.

Re: nanny recommendations?

I agree 100%!!!!!!!!!! Foreign country, total stranger, 3 month old baby could be a recipe for disaster.

Re: nanny recommendations?

I am sorry I even posted! Let me make this clear......The baby will never be left alone!! I just wanted someone to sit for an hour or 2 on the beach with me and hold the baby under the umbrella and then help me carry the baby and other stuff up to the room for naps. This is my husband's only vacation and I want him to enjoy his time on the beach. He works hard so I can be a stay at home Mom and not have to leave the baby EVER!!

Like I said before.....I was just asking for nanny suggestions and not your parenting advice. I will not be posting on this board again!

Re: nanny recommendations?

Tracy - Is it possible for a relative or a teenager you know from home to join you on your trip? That way you are comfortable with the person caring for your child while you are there. I know I have run into other people who have done this. I know it's an expense but worth the peace of mind.

Also, I believe Charles has recommended some sitting services. You may want to try to contact him directly. He has been a source of a lot of great info on this board.

This is his address and he has been very helpful to many people.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation! We got back two weeks ago and miss it much!

Re: nanny recommendations?

Tracy - I'm sorry for all the hostility and stong opinions you've experienced on this board! I will be seeking babysitting services myself in Aruba for a couple nights for our 7 yr old & 3 1/2 yr old at LaCabana. Unfortunately I can't recommend anyone from the Marriot, but I did read from earlier posts that the babysitting in general in Aruba was very good. Hopefully the Marriot will be able to recommend someone to help you. I hope you have a nice trip! We are leaving for Aruba tomorrow 3/31-4/7 and are very excited about it!

Re: nanny recommendations?

tracy.. i have been bringing my daughter to aruba for 5 years in a row,, since she was one... i never had a babysitter.. that does not mean it is wrong to have one.. i just felt that i could never trust anyone that i didnt know... many people do it there... many of these people that work out of the hotel are bonded, and im sure they are fine... if you decide against this nanny situation... believe me i never had a problem with my daughter ,, she napped two times a day.. all i did was take her for a walk in her stroller and she fell asleep.. like i said two naps a day while in aruba..and during the am nap i got to enjoy time with my husband on the beach and the pm nap we enjoyed time again together.or had lunch together..with the baby right by my side....aruba is such a family oriented place you will want to be with your child all the time... . she was never too hot in the stroller.. get the netting that goes over the stroller...we just got back 3 weeks ago and she is five now, and i still do have the same routine, except its only one nap a day..but we have sooo much fun with her when she was one and every year after.. and i did bring my daughter to florida when she was 3 months old and did the same thing.my husband works very hard too and i am a stay at home mom... but he would never have it any other way but to have the three of us together as a family.. no matter what you decide im sure you will be fine and have a great time in aruba.. you will love it soo much... take care!

Re: nanny recommendations?

Tracy,

I brought my 7 month old to Aruba last October and we will be going again this October. One recommendation try and stay if you are not already at the timeshare properties. It is great. We could put our son to sleep in the bedroom and still stay up in the living room and not feel as though we need to creep around.
Also, we brought our stroller on the beach and put it underneath the hut and he napped right there. It was cool and out of the sun. He slept great. I understand you wanting to get a nanny and can't believe how some people react. I myself didn't trust anyone and I am a working mom so my vacation is to spend more time with my son. With a baby that young you should be fine. They sleep and adopt to situations so easily and you will be able to have a good time. If you can bring someone with you from home, try and get the 2 bedroom timeshare. This way they are in their own room but still in the same unit.

Have fun.

Susan
