Passports Needed for Kids?

Hello! We're hoping to take our two sons, age 22 months and 4 months, to Aruba in June. What do we need for them? Passports or just birth certificates? Thanks!!!

Re: Passports Needed for Kids?

As of December 2005 passports will be required to go anywhere in the Caribbean, but if you are going in June the birth certificate will be fine.

Just Birth certificates from local government (town clerk) with the raised notary seal. As of Jan. '06, EVERYONE needs a passport for Aruba.

I checked with the airline and they confirmed that you only need the birth certificate, however you need to make sure it's the official certificate with a raised seal. Have a great time!

Thanks! I read that you need a passport and photo ID, but since infants don't really have photo ID's, I wanted to make sure the birth certificate would be enough! Thanks for your help!

Re: Passports Needed for Kids?

I was wondering too. My family (3 children and mom and dad)only have birth certificates (raised seal)and some were issued as late as 1991. I hope they do not require a "newer" issued item. We are going in July. Should I ask someone?

That sure makes it tough for people that make last minute plans.
Looking forward to my trip!

Re: Passports Needed for Kids?

We have our birth certificates - got them from the Dept. of records. We used them in Cancun 2 years ago - they're dated, signed and they have an official stamp on the back, but no raised seal. Do I still need to get them notarized?
Thanks!

Re: Passports Needed for Kids?

Hi - You need a Birth Certificate! They will not let you on the plane to Aruba without one! As of December 2005, the children will need a passport. (I think they can be added to their mothers if they are under 14, but double check).
