Possibly New to Aruba

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if we could get some opinions from everyone who has stayed at the LaCabana Beach and Racket Club. We're thinking of purchasing a time share for $8,000 in the month of April for one week. It's a one bedroom. Is this a good price? It's on the 4th floor and has an ocean/pool view.
Also is Aruba a safe place to be and take kids to? Can you leave the resort to do tourist things and be safe?
Thanks for any help possible!

>>>> "It's a one bedroom. Is this a good price?"
----- Now I don't think so.
Go to www.casadelmar-aruba.com/ Prices for one beroom for April/May/June cheaper. Look for A on the price list which means the Ambassador Units.
>>>> "Also is Aruba a safe place to be and take kids to?"
----- Very safe.
>>>> "Can you leave the resort to do tourist things and be safe?"
----- Yes! Even if my wife and daughter go out on their own at night I don't worry. In the States I worry.

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

We've been going to Aruba with our children since they were born and they are now 10 and 11. It is a very safe island with plenty to do with kids of all ages. We've travelled all over the island both on tours and on our own. We opted to buy a house and rent it out when we are not using it so I can't help out with time share values. Please feel free to visit our website www.thearubahouse.com for lots of info about visiting Aruba.
You'll love Aruba!

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

I think you can get a better price. IT is a great place for children and the spot on Eagle beach is by far prettier than the high rise areas. This is not a "posh" resort but for all the amenities you can not beat it. We love the gym, racquetball, pools, pizza hut stand by pool (a bargain...all the other restaurants on the property are only okay and not worth the price. We could alway get chairs and umbrellas at the beach (although it is on the other side of the street). Grills are everywhere which is also nice. I would stay and pay for one week and decide before you committ to buying. Hope this helps

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

I will tell you......think twice about spending 8000 on Lacabana when you can purchase one for 5000 at Renaissance beach towers. We have owned for 7 yrs...kids are now 13 and 14......the island is the greatest, safest, and one of the most fun places to be. Its downtown, close to the stores, restaurants.....really a great deal. We have friends that own at Lacabana and are sorry they bought. They feel like they are in NY with the crowds at the pool and having to walk across the street for the beach. Location is key, the place is HUGE. Just my opionion, but maybe this isn't such a great deal...check it out.

That is a good price for the one bedroom at la cabana.....if you dont mind crossing the street to get to the beach.....and YES!!! Aruba is safe to go out and do things and safe for your kids.....My kids, 15 and 13, have been going since they were 18 months old and we havent had any problems whatsoever....I trust the island completely.....

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

Hi, We went to Lacabana B&R 10 yrs ago this March for our honeymoon and purchased a studio, week #9 ($7500.00 3rd floor beach/pool view)before we left, have gone every year since, in 2002 purchased a 1 bedroom connecting to the studio, and have not one complaint. The only problem from NY was the Airfare for a family of 4 was approx $2800, we now can fly JetBlue this year it will be $1800.00 for 4 of us. Very kid friendly\. I hear they seperated the villas from the timeshare, not there since that change, but will update you when we get back. We are going 3/2-3/11.

First of all, make sure it's the beach club. Secondly, do a resale--you should get it cheaper then that. And yes, Aruba is very safe for children. We love Aruba!

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

look elsewhere for a time share. Lacabana is like a city...way to big. You have to cross the street to get to the beach. Not near anything....Try reniassance beach resort suites....great private island...always a beach chair......good luck

Re: Possibly New to Aruba

Alot of better places than La Cabana.. The last post is right..Its away from everything and you have to cross the road to the beach.. I just purchased a resale at the Divi for 3500..on the beach and I luv it.. I now own 2 weeks 17/18. May be looking for 16 also if the price is right.. Check the websites for timeshare resales.. RiiStroman is a good one and just for comparison, Check out Redweek.com.. Our friends bought a resale through red week last year..A studio for $1800.. Deals can be found but it can be tough if its on a school vacation week..
Definatly check out other resorts.. LaCabana would be my last choice..Just my opinion
