Safe to bring 3 month old to Aruba?
We are thinking of travelling down over Thanksgiving this year. Our child will be 3 months old at that time. From what the state department tells me, Aruban medical facilities are up to "US standards".
Im wondering other parents thoughts on travelling with a 3 months old to Aruba. Ill be breast feeding, if that makes a difference. Thanks! |

Dear krmlaw
My wife and I travel to Aruba every year in July and we have considered taking our daughter who will be 7 months then. After talking to the pediatrician, she does not recommend it because of the heat and sun. Speak to your pediatrician and see what they tell you. I will not risk it and will travel to Aruba next year with her.

You will be fine. My son was a few months on his first visit and did fine. I would recommend packing an antibiotic, and some ear drops just in case.

go 4 it
it will be easier than you think it is easier traveling to aua with an infant than a toddler it is up to usa standards!!! carseat/stroller combo is the only equipment you will need your resort/hotel will most likely be able to provide packnplay crib playpen combinations some sunblocks are not recommended for use on infants check with your child's pediatrician re: sublock. again..............go 4 it. andrea Quote:

I took my daughter when she was a few months old. Just dont expose the baby to direct sunlight. They make baby tents that you can take to the beach. Like Andrea said, its much easier to take them when they are little. If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

We just got back and saw babies and toddlers galore, some I would dare say 4 mos or even younger. I only saw one that look like the baby had a little too much sun. With sunblock, sun hats, swimsuits and cover ups it shouldn't be a problem.

Not a problem, took our 1st son there at 4 months of age, packed usual
stuff you would take on a trip. Post above has it right, no direct sun at all. Restaurants did the right thing also, seated us away from certain travelers, just in case little guy was to blow a gasket. Luckily it never happened. Bring a car seat / bouncy seat to the Buccaneer and be seated by the aquarium, little junior will be amazed for quite some time.Have a great time!! |
