Should we bring our 10 month old?

Hello! We are going to Aruba when our son will be 10 months old. We have my parents lined up and dying to watch him the whole week because we got so much advice to enjoy a trip without him...heard it would be invigorating. I am completely comfortable with my parents watching him, although I'll miss him terribly. My question is, should we just go ahead and take him with us? We will be going next year as well, and thought it might be best to go alone now, and then take him next year when he'd be able to do even more things. Any advice? Thank you!

When i asked my ob if i should bring my 2 month old to aruba she said it would be my easiest vacation with her. I did bring her and have been bringing her for the past years. Never had any problems. But it is totaly up to you. It does restrict your night life a bit. you'll have to take turns going to the casino.

I would definitely bring your 10 month old. We are going to Aruba in mid-may and are bringing our 16 month old. It won't be easy, but at least your child will be with you. That is the important thing. My wife and I went back and forth about bringing our son, and we decided to bring him. How often do you get to go to Aruba, do you know what I mean? When are planning to go?

If you do just don't let the wee one be exposed to the intense sun during the day and after the heat of the day it feels like the indoor restaurants are running the air-co at sub-artic temps so bring something to put on him once you get inside so he doesn't shiver.

be very careful with the very strong sun due to aruba's close proximity to the equator

ask your doctor about which sunscreen to use as some are dangerous to use on a baby

water is safe to drink

all you need is a hat and bring a stroller with umbrella.. they have tiki huts on every beach, bring the netting that goes over the stroller..a jacket for night.. the baby will be fine,,,

Re: Should we bring our 10 month old?

Ok, I am going to say leave the 10 month old at home. The reason for this is as follows: What do you like to do in Aruba? Relax and spend time by the water! A ten month old likes to crawl, explore and play. They certainly can not do this on the beach. Your son would have a better time at home with grandparents. I have three active boys who I would have killed myself if I would have brought them on a trip to Aruba at such a young age. Two months .... no problem as all they do is eat and sleep. Easy to do under an umbrella on the beach. Too spend all that money to go on a lovely trip and then be frustrated it is not worth it. We started taking our boys to Aruba when they were about 4 or 5 years old. They could play in the sand, swim with us or go to the kids camp to do some fun kids activities. Think about what your son does during the day and if you think all three of you would truly enjoy going to Aruba together. It is also nice for husband & wife to have some time to be spouses instead of parents too!
