Oh my gosh! I was so excited when I heard this: The Tamarijn is offering a single parent program... I read it in the single parent magazine. I can't believe this! I've been looking for a place to take my kids (14 & 12) for a while now. It's just so hard, you know? Single parent working two jobs... But, I tell you what, this is so great! I think I am paying like, $140 night or something like that. Is anyone familiar with the Tam? I've never been there before (or Aruba for that matter) and I would like to know a little more. Thank you in advance!

This is not really new. The Tam does not charge for kids under 18 (two per adult), making it ideal for single parents with teenagers.

I was there with my 16 (just about to turn 17) year old in June. There were plenty of teenagers and we had a great time. Food is great, beach is beautiful and we loved the island. The rooms are a little small and simple, but it's not a big deal. It cost us $950 for the two of us -- all inclusive!!

We are going back again before she turns 18.

There is a big difference now... no single person upcharge! The guy on the phone explained it to me. Before, single parents were charged as single adults, and had to pay like $50 extra a night. Now, with the new program that they have going on, there is no penalty against single parents. Instead of paying almost $200 a night, I am only paying $140 a night. See what I'm saying?

Is the single parent program during a special time of the year or is it all year long? It would be great if it was a special set of weeks so that single parents could meet one another... Is this the case?
