taking a 3 month old in the sun

Hi,
I was hoping someone on this board could recommend a good sun shade or sun tent that would allow me to take my 3 month old infant to the beach. I'm already planning to use SPF clothing on the baby, but since the beach huts don't provide that much protection from the sun, I would like to also use some sort of shade or tent. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I would check that catalog called Right Start. They may even have a website. I know they would make something. Also check babies r us. Unfortunately you can't put sunblock on a baby that young, but at least you have the clothing.

Hmm. tough 1 because in my opinion i do not think it is safe for such a little baby to be in the sun at all! You can't even apply sunscreen to a baby that little. But, babies r us, has a great little bouncy type seat that has a sunshade attached. You could put the baby in that with a hat on,under a paplya. kwim?
good luck.

Be careful. that could spell disaster!! maybe a scarred child for life. check with doctor on sunscreen, always have a hat on the child and in shade. just not a good idea, but not my child either.

Never had a problem

>>>> "but since the beach huts don't provide that much protection from the sun"
---- Where are you staying? Never had a problem with our grandsons under a hut as ours blocked everything. Since still a baby bring that Baby Type car seat, wear hat and T-shirt, ..... Sould be fine unless huts are in sad shape.

That's sound good too

>>>> "has a great little bouncy type seat that has a sunshade attached"
---- That's sounds great too. Or have a blanket laying over the handle of that Baby Type car seat. But even using either still keep baby under a good beach hut. Can take turns swiming with another adult. Also that Baby Type car seat is great for going out to dinner. Bring bottle and baby can have something while you eat.

Re: taking a 3 month old in the sun

you can put lotion on a 3 month old. I put it on my 2 month old when i went. I picked up a little bouncing bassanet that zipped up and had solid material on one side and netting on the other. i also covered it with a towel. She slept in it at the pool and beach and also at night in the room. Check baby's r us i think playschool makes one. Give her a bath everynight to get off the lotion and chlorine and you will be fine. Enjoy we do my daughter is going to be 6 in feb and will be taking her 7th trip to aruba in June.

You CANNOT put lotion on a baby under 6 months old. It clearly states it on every brand of lotion.

Re: taking a 3 month old in the sun

yes, I totally agree with arubalover.I have 4 kids, ages ranging from 12 to 2,and NEVER have I put sunscreen on a baby under 6 mos old.Well, then again, I was never ever in the sun with such a small baby. But it is common knowledge that babies & suncreen/and the sun do not MIX!

Graco puts out a great thing for the beach. It is octogonal in shape, lightweigt, and assebles in a minute. It also has a full canopy over it so the baby is completely sheltered from the sun. We used it all last summer at the beach and our baby loved it. Have fun. We are going to Aruba at the end of January and can't wait.
