tamarijin 1st floor or 2nd

Hello I just read about someone getting their room broken into at the tam, the person recommend to stay on the 2nd floor, is that a good idea or is it safe on any floor help I am getting scared to book. I don't want my family to be in danger.... Where is the best part to stay that they would have a hard time breaking into????

Where did you read it? I'm not doubting it at all, please don't take my question that way. I do know that there are people out there, unfortunately, that like to start trouble and mayhem on message boards by pumping up crime incidents.

That's terrible, and I haven't heard of that happening in Aruba recently (not to stay it hasn't or doesn't on occasion). I have heard that many resorts have security walking around at night, knocking on doors on the ground level if guest's sliders are not properly locked.

I will say that now that it has happened at the Tam, you can bet they will be doing everything and more in their power to make sure it doesn't happen again. They don't need that type of bad publicity.

We stayed at the Tam June 30-July 7, 2007. Had a room on the bottom level in the 1700 block. Never had any issues what so ever. The security even one night came by and knocked on the slider to make sure we new that the slider was unlocked. I'm so sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience & a theft occured to your room.

Just wanted to let people know that again, we had no problems staying on the bottom floor. All I can suggest is book a room for whatever floor will make you more comfortable.

Cannot wait to book another trip to our "home away from home"

everyone , no mater where they are staying, should always make sure that their doors are locked and their valuables are stowed and locked in the room's safe....(passports, $$, credit cards, i-pods, cameras etc..)

every so often one hears of room robberies and often times it is proven that the thief gained access through an open slider, or thru an unlocked door. also too sometimes folks do not put stuff away and locked.

we do have to do our job of locking up.
it makes the thief's job harder.

at the tamarijn, we have always loved the 1st floor and have never had a problem. we have stayed in the 1500 or higher numbered blocks of rooms.

my big gripe at the resorts..............not only the tamarijn, is that sometimes the housekeeper opens and unlocks 2 rooms at a time.....while she is in cleaning one room, the other room is left unlocked and unattended. i have seen it happen time and time again at the Paradise Beach Villas, lacabana brc and villas and also at costa linda.

I found it on trip advisor after reading your post. What a shame.....

I do agree that everything should be locked up in the safe in the room. We do that anywhere we go. I always wear my valuable jewelry, but have nice but cheap anklets and bracelets that I bring on our trips. They always go into the safe. ALWAYS.

I will be locking up everything, but still plan to have a great time. Just trying to find the right block to stay in that does not have alot of rocks in front, but not away from everything...

We will be staying at the Tam with 2 kids (6 and 3) I will be asking for a ground floor as i think it will be safer for the kids. As long as you lock up properly all should be fine. I think from what i have read that 1900 block upwards has no rocks, but if i am wrong i am sure someone will let you know

I think we are going to have to wait for reports back from the resort after the pounding waves this weekend. The waves may have exposed more rocks or brought in more sand to cover them. I am hoping for the latter not the former.

I'm staying at the TAM Dec. 2-12. I read this also on TripAdvisor but this can happen anywhere so who cares. Hopefully they will get caught in the act. It's probably tourists anyway.
