TIMESHARE OWNER NEEDS DISCOUNTED AIRFARE

Hi all,

As a Timeshare owner traveling Saturday to Saturday, I get stuck paying the highest travel fares since I can't be flexible with travel dates. Does anyone have any suggestions or know some travel agencies w/specials to Aruba from Newark, NJ Airport?
The so called discounted rate being a timeshare owner is still over $600 per person.
It;s costing us more just in airfare than it would to book a air and hotel package!
Your thoughts are appreciated.

Check www.travelzoo.com--changes every Wednesday. Top 20 list, last minute and specials from many cities. Also either www.tntvacations.com or www.gwvtravel.com offer air only from nearby Hartford, Conn. if that might be worth your while looking in to.

See if you can find a travel agent who will work with you. The discounted air fares are usually only given in conjuction with a land package. If you use a travel agent on a regular basis or get to know one, they can sometimes work around that. if you say rent a car they can use that as a land package then they can give you that discounted air. There are ways around it you just need to know someone in the business. good luck

As former Travel Agent, the best advice I could give you would be to find an agent who works with wholesalers. Wholesalers buy in bulk from the airlines and can sell directly to TA's for greatly reduced prices. We used to use Alken Travel out of the New York, NY area (but that was five years ago). Good luck!

Shelly O, Try leaving one or two days earlier. You will pay extra for the rooms but the airfair might be cheaper.
I do it every year and I also avoid the heavy traffic on weekends.

My family is going on an Apple Vacations charter out of Newark in June Saturday/Saturday. We found out about them from friends that paid about $400 this past winter. Their website is www.applevacations.com.

Suggest you consider flying out of Philadelphia. My sister lives in NJ, and I live in MD, and we both fly non stop from Philly. It may save you some $.

Re: TIMESHARE OWNER NEEDS DISCOUNTED AIRFARE

Hi Shelly,

We are also timeshare owners from NJ, and were frustrated by the prices of flying without a package deal. What we did was book a vacation package through expedia.com and we are flying out of Philly (even though it is a hike for us to get there - Newark would be the closest for us). If you go onto expedia, click on vaca. packages - you can try out dif. dates and dif. airports and there is a box you can check if you only want the hotel for a certain # of days of your trip. We got a great deal, leaving this Tuesday non-stop out of Philly, staying at the Wyndham for 3 nights in two rooms (3 adults, 3 children), and then on Friday we will just take a taxi over to our timeshare and spend a week there. We are paying just over $500 per person, but it is SO much cheaper than just flying alone, and we get 3 extra nights there.

Good Luck and have fun!
Karin

Be careful and speak with the seller before doing so but I have purchased tickets from ebay before. Just be sure you speak with the person before giving them money. A lot of wholesalers will sell on ebay.
