traveling with 3yo

hi everyone,

so glad to see a sight dedicated to families. we are travelling to aruba for the first time with our 3yo end of may. we will be staying at the radisson. we are not renting a car - do you think its okay to travel cab/buses or would you recommend a car with a toddler? also, any family friendly must go to restaurants??? a friend of my recently exclaimed,"aruba, is the hottest place on earth" - i never heard anyone say this before - i'm sure its hot but thats why we are going anyone ever find this to be a problem?

thanks, mary

Use the public bus for $2.00 round trip. I think under 6 is free with adult. All restaurants are kid friendly and will make up a special meal if you need one. Try Buccaneers with large fish tanks around. It's 86 to 90 degrees in the day, 78 to 83 at night. Keep sunscreen on. You are near the Equator.

Yes, it is one of the hottest places BUT it is more comfortable there (any time of year) than it is in NYC in July!!! No real humidity and a nice breeze. You may need a jacket/sweater in the PM.

Aruba is also the Hottest place as in FUN!! Mabey that is what she ment.

I have been going with my daughter since she was 2 months old. if they are in good practice of resturant manners any and all resturants on the island are very accomdating. For a more casual dinner try Iguana Joes, Tony Roma, Buccaneer, or Carlos and Charlies.

Re: traveling with 3yo

It's not that Aruba is hot,it's just that the sun is VERY strong. Remember you're alot
closer to the equator there than in the US.
Make sure the baby is covered from head to toe with 40 block at least or your vacation will turn from dream to nightmare. Big floppy hats, shade if possible for the baby, remember the baby isn't interested in looking cool with a tan.If the baby starts
crying for no apparent reason, she or he might be cooking from the inside out.LOTS of water or fruit drinks. Stay away from caffine drinks. Please do not think I'm lecturing you,it's just that I've seen a few parents more interested in their "Tan" than the interests of the baby. If you burn the baby, you might as well pack up and go home.
Also a LARGE bottle of Banana Boat Aloe several times once off the beach will help
greatly. Remember, most people find out if they had too much sun when their in the shower after they come off the beach.
