I've been in touch with Tropicana via email. I requested a first floor room for two reasons. First, I really just wanted to give them my confirmation number and make sure I actually have a reservation but figured first floor would be easy access to the pool for the kids and less walking for me. They responded within a day and don't have any standard 2 BR on the first floor but we could upgrade to a premium 2BR for an additional $50/night.

So I now know I am confirmed and don't have to sleep on the beach!

Let us know, can you ask to see an updated room and give us a report on that?

We stopped at the Tropicana on Wednesday to check out the facility and qualify our reservation. The resort has been updated in the common areas and we wouldn't hesitate staying there. We made our way over to the reservations office. The representative easily pulled up our confirmation and we inquired about room choice. There are bacically three categories for room upgrade. You can get refurbished, renovated or existing. They offered us a guaranteed renovated room for $25 per night. Not bad...We didn't take a tour of the renovated rooms, although it would have been easy to do, as the timeshare hounds were everywhere trying to pull you in. We opted not to and feel happy with our reservation.
Refurbished amounts to cosmetic upgrades. Renovated is everything new. Hope that helps.

I was wondering why the pricing was so good... it's still worth it as I think most people can easily dodge the hounds especially for that price.

With these prices there is zero reason to buy a timeshare I am thinking, it must be difficult to sell them these days.
