I let my daughter bring a small suitcase and she puts what ever she wants in it, Baby dolls, books, shovel and pale. Coloring books, crayons special bear or blanket. Things that will make it feel like home.
for you to bring hats sunscreen water shoes you don't have to bring pharmacy stuff for illness if you can buy it off the shelf at home you can get it there if you need it. I bring a small first aid kit for those nasty falls at the pool.

Bring some kind of tube or blow float for the ocean and the pool this way you can go in with him or her and everyone can have a good time. We always bring our own tubes and snorkeling gear. My 9 year old loves to float out in the ocean on a big tube.
