Whole Milk in Aruba

I am taking my one year old daughter to Aruba and was wondering if and where I could buy her whole milk there. Is there any difference in the milk? Will she have any problem adjusting to it? Thanks!

Re: Whole Milk in Aruba

What you need to do is ask for AMERICAN milk. Not all places have it but it is no problem getting AMERICAN milk at the grocery store. You can get homo, 2% and 1%. In addition, they do sell milk in a vacuumed sealed container, if you look at the package it says its from Canada. We never tasted it so I can't comment but the other milk was just the same as at home!

Yuck! I didn't like the milk in Aruba it was real thin and when put in your coffee the coffee was still black. If you put enough in to get the color and taste you wanted your coffee was cold!

The milk they use in Aruba was either goat's milk or the canned carnation milk. I bring some of the little creamers with me, but get used to their milk after a while. You can buy regular milk downtown.

Re: Whole Milk in Aruba

Jo..... You can get good American milk at the grocery stores between the hotels and downtown. Superfoods, IGA, Hong King.....

McArthurs. I think it's brought in from Miami. And it's the North American milk we all know and love.

I'm still not sure what the warm stuff on the shelf is all about, but the Dutch seem to love it. And avoid the milk from Curacoa..... It leaves a bit of an after taste.

But regardless of what milk you end up with, rest assured that all food and drink on the island is of a very high standard and as safe as you could ever need.

Re: Whole Milk in Aruba

There are two types of milk sold on Aruba, American brands and Dutch brands. Both are cow's milk.

The big difference is that Dutch milk is stored and served warm, unlike US brands. As a result it has a slightly different taste and smell to it.

Last year our son rejected a cup of the Dutch brand his first night, but after a day he was drinking it without a problem.

Re: Whole Milk in Aruba

Go to Kong Hing supermarket and buy either Borden or MacArthur milk which comes in whole, 2%, skim, etc. This is American milk flown in and is the same milk we drink at home. You should not have a problem with this. The other milk referred to in other messages are served in restaurants and can also be purchased in supermarkets, but stick to the two brands I mention above and you will be fine. Be aware the prices on items in all of the supermarkets are in local money and the cashier will convert your total into our dollars. Have a great trip - we just got back.
