Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

I am down to these two hotels for my honeymoon this June. Both about the same price range for the bed and breakfast package. I have looked a both of the websites and I think I like the pool area better at the wyndham. Can anyone give me some advice? This will be our first time to the island.
Thanks so much
Jessica

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

Are you talking about the Aruba Grand next to the Radisson or the Occidental Grand Aruba? 2 very different hotels. if its the Aruba Grand, I would definelty suggest you stay at the Wyndham. Its more lively the Aruba Grand is an older setting. You can find alot from reading the message board.

If it's the Aruba Grand, I would not stay there unless I was 65+ years old.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

MY WIFE AND I STAYED AT THE WYNDHAM OCT. 17 TO 23 AND LOVED IT.THEY ARE DOING SOME WORK TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING BUT WILL BE DONE BEFORE YOUR TRIP.THE PEOPLE AT THE WYNDHAM ARE VERY NICE,THE GROUNDS ARE GREAT.THE ARUBA GRAND IS NEXT TO THE WYNDHAM AND IT IS A OK PLACE BUT THE WYNDHAM IS HANDS DOWN THE WINNER.JOIN THE WYNDHAM BYREQUEST AND YOU WILL GET A ROOM UPGRADE AT CHECKIN TIME,I THINK YOU CAN JOIN OFF THE WEB SITE.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

Please forget the Wyndham....any place but there. The Wyndham by request is a joke. You get exactly what you pay for it.....nothing. The resort is updating the outside.....but the inside needs much updating. The check-in desk is very unfriendly......October was our second visit this year and we were very disappointed. Go the extra dollars at the Radisson or Hyatt.
Just remember Aruba is a great place.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

The Aruba Grand is like a retirement home for people in their 60s and 70s. The Wyndham is a great hotel with a fantastic staff and excellent restaurants.

I agree with you. We spent our honeymoon there in October and we were not impressed.
I also joined the By Request and got absolutely nothing, except for them running out of beer 2 days into our stay.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

I would suggest staying at the Radisson if you have a little extra money. If not, the Wyndham is a nice choice, we have stayed there twice. The pool area is very nice but the rooms are a little old and tend to smell a little musty from the humidity. The Aruba Grand is not for honeymooners...... Either way you go, Aruba is a GREAT choice and it will keep you coming back year after year.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

I agree with those that say forget the Wyndham. I was there in July and I can tell you, I'll be going back to Aruba again but I WILL NOT be staying at Wyndham the next time. I wish I had spent a little more money and stayed at Marriott or Raddison. Had I known better, I would have. It was my first time to Aruba so I just didn't know.

Re: Aruba Grand or Wyndham?

Granted, the Aruba Grand is not for everyone but my husband and I have been staying there for 8 years straight now and love it there. We spent our honeymoon there (we are in our 30's) in a lanai room and it was the best because it was quiet, private, and we could get a hut at any time during the day on the beach since the Grand has only about 175 rooms (compared with the Wyndham's 444 rooms.)

You don't have to be in your 60's to appreciate the Grand - we just happen to love peace and quiet and being just steps from the beach in their lanai rooms.
