    don't be nervous

my friend marl (mercedes lady) just returned about a month ago and had a ball.

NOW that the ICAHN group are the chief owners things are pointing UP.

Paul and I spent 3 hrs visiting a friend there during christmas week.
we ate our lunch in her unit, swam in the pool and then sat on her patio for cocktails.

the TROP had to woo and do much penance to Interval to get back in good graces.
the Trop was required to do certain things to meet interval guidelines.

    people are optimistic.
the owners (timeshare folks) want to know how MUCH this is going to cost them!
but, the timeshare owners are THRILLED to have a reputable company in charge.

Folks I have asked some of the people I know to also post updates. I was there for 5 weeks and will be returning for 8 weeks my next trip. In one year they have done so much to the resort. A lot is the infrastructure, but, were huge projects that needed immediate attention. Yes the place is tired, but, I had a blast as usual. The pools looked great. My condo unit in the "B" building looked fine (older furniture, but clean) I would walk in while my suite was being cleaned and they were washing the glass surround in the showers, the tile, wiping down all the appliances, etc. The staff was very attentive and if I needed something taken care of they were there in a matter of minutes. I have nothing but a bright future to look forward to with Icahn as an investor and owning over 47% of Tropicana INC I would say we really couldn't be in better hands. Once they get the renovations rolling and the place is bussier than now, they will start with some activities. I suggested a D.J. at happy hour and even extending happy hour to 3 hours vs 2 and they could also extend the little grilling area they have as I bet many people would love a burger, hot dog and fries while having a drink and listening to some music. They also plan on some children's activities as well. They have a great waterfall pool and a pool with a huge slide and swim up bar. If you happen to see a younger child in the hot tub notify security asap and they will take care of that immediately. Once in a while a few local children may try to swim in the pools and if you think they do not belong please, again, contact security. I own at both LaCabana and Trop and to be honest I prefer the quiet and usually walk back from the beach mid-afternoon to sit at the pool and have a cocktail. If you have an issue please do not hesitate to speak to the front desk and ask them to notify management. They look upon constructive criticism a plus as this is the only way they can improve on these concerns. I hope I have helped and if you have more questions please ask and I will try my best to answer or get the answer for you

Sleep at the Aruban, happy hour at Lacabana, shower, hit the town back to sleep. Wake up and do it all again. If you just think of it as a place to keep your things all will be fine. On the upside it has a kitchen and the pools are clean and quiet. Down side slightly run down but it will do the trick. Hope you have a great time!

Well, we just returned from Aruba and stayed at the Aruban Resort and Casino. It is now Tropicana. Everything we read on here was outdated except that it is quiet there. We were upgraded to a three bedroom suite. It was beautiful. Everything was clean and new. The casino was closed but there are several close. We never needed anything in the room. Lots of towels, great selection of kitchen items, big refrigerator/freezer, microwave, laundry, all new and in great working order. We loved the concierge, Raymond. The pool was beautiful and clean. Just a short walk to the beach where they supplied chairs and palapas for the hotel guests. We could not have asked for more! It was much noisier with more activity at La Cabana but we were looking for peace and quiet. La Cabana guests were complaining a lot due to renovation occuring there and they said much was in disrepair. That is not what we found at all. There was work being done but it was quiet and did not bother us at all. I would highly recommend Tropicana. They made our visit great!

Stayed there this week. It is now the Tropicana. It is open and was wonderful! We absolutely loved it. It was clean and everything we needed was available. Don't be afraid to stay at Tropicana! I was really nervous after reading these posts.

    welcome back
    glad that you liked it.

please, tell me what you mean that
"Everything we read on here was outdated except that it is quiet there. "

do you mean things are not outdated at the TROP or that things you read here are outdated?
I went back and read your posting where you said you had an interval exchange and were a tad nervous.
there were a few replies, including mercedeslady who had just returned.

wow i am shocked that they gave u a 3 bedroom on an interval exchanged.
    astounded actually! wow.

the big renovation at lacabana is in the final 2 months.
wonder what was in disrepair, the whole place was gutted and redone.

    thanks
