Please please dont mind your own business. I as many have gotten more info from you I just want to say I still Love Aruba no matter how it turns out. If and when the Aruban opens wether or not we are allowed to keep our own week I will still go back. If it's closed well I hope we can find a room at the Lacabana

Aruban Resort

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to get info on the Aruban Resort and Casino closing. We are owners there and we had booked four rooms for July 2010 for my daughters wedding, all the rooms have been paid in full and so has my 2010 maintenance fees. Does anybody know of a government agaency that could help us rebook for July, or will the government reopen the resort and honor our payment? Thank you.

bob i read your post on the other forum.
first, you said that you had put this charge on your credit card and it was posted dec 9. contact your credit card company NOW and put it in dispute.

now as far as the government agency running interference.......what is happening from what i have been told is that the tourism dept and the courts and the attorneys are all working hard to find a way for the resort to reopen.

all of this turmoil has been a long time coming ......but now it is in bankruptcy and maybe a new day is dawning for the resort.

keep reading this site and keep reading the other site where you posted.

i am disgusted by the whole chain of events.

bobby if indeed the aruban does not reopen or if it does reopen and your monies are gone re: holding the rooms we, at the aruba.com community forum are good at listening, giving suggestions and giving moral support.

please state your case tell us your dates and how many rooms you need.
many folks own units and may want to rent them to you for nominal/low rent considering the circumstances. it does not hurt to ask and to let others know your situation.

right now, contact your credit card put that charge in dispute

and breathe.

Aruban Resort and Casino

Andrea,

Thanks for keeping up with this nightmare situation. My wife and I also have reservations at The Aruban, but for Jan. 9 through 16. We only learned about the closing and bankruptcy filing on Dec. 21. There has been very limited information about this, other than this great forum and website.

We also had paid money to the Aruban and we are not sure what will happen to it. We have been scrambling to find a replacement hotel or timeshare for that week.

for lack of better words my "condolences" kathy and john.

today in fact as i type, the courts are hearing the case before them as to whether they see if it can be opened and managed by key management co and bluegreen.....a new board of direcetors.....and god only knows what else.

this is its 2nd bancruptcy in 4 or 5 years.

i am trying to be optimistic.

go to holiday inn website
type in your dates
chances are it will come up as no availability
call them NOT the 1 800 number BUT call holiday Inn aruba directly and ask for reservations.
up til 2 days ago i know they had rooms for your dates at approx $204 per night incl tax. no bargain, but a room on island nonetheless.

check back later today for any news on the aruban.

what decisions are made today will have far reaching impact.
this is so important for the owners, the employess and the tourism industry on aruba.
the managing company and majority owner KL is an american company.
a disgusting pond scum-like company that seemed to blatently thumb their nose at their owners, employees and business morals/ethics.

Unhappy What is going on with The Aruban?

We are owners at The Aruban. We were wondering why we didn't get a bill for next years maintenance fees so I went online to find out they are closed. There is no way to contact them or get answers. Does anyone know what the owners are suppose to do now? Thanks for any help if anyone finds out what to do.

Thank you Andrea J

Thank you for your posts, I have already contacted American Express and put all the charges in dispute, but most were paid two months ago, so that doesn't look good. Thankfully we have time to look for other rooms, but we have 17 people travelling together and will need at least 4 rooms, that is how many I had booked at the Aruban. Thanks again, I will be checking this site daily.

pls check the site www.thearubanforum.com
it is a privately owned site owned by a man/aruban timeshare owner named john cole, not a site put up by that management group KL pondscum or whatever their name is.

john cole has taken it upon himself to hire attorneys and get involved in the court process. john cole has now worked with the court in asking and prvidng folks an escrow account where they can wire their 2010 maintenance fees by no means am i advising or not advising folks to pay their 2010 fees i advise you to check with your financial advisor if you have one.

but the resort is closed , as in NOT OPEN and bankrupt so, what appears is that if enough folks wire their $$$$$$ maintenance fees 2010 to this escrow account, the courts will see that those timeshare owners are serious and put that money to use opening resort, paying staff and getting everything ship shape .

there are still many questions?
what about those that have had their fees waived?
what happens if one wires their money and the resort does not open for months or ever?

go to john's site
ask the pertinent questions

we hope and pray that john's venture with the maintenance escrow and the fact that he did put in a lot of his own dollars to the attorneys.
