CLJHN, could you elaborate on your 2 sentences that you posted?
Many of us have been watching and wondering and waiting.
Glad that you have made your way over to the community forum......
Wishing ALL of the owners much luck in the court, meeting, voting and reopening venture. Hope that all works out for all of the folks involved. What is good for the Aruban is ultimately good for Aruba, right?

But now all of this news about the bankruptcy problem - sould i go or stay, is there any other hotels accomodating due to these awful situations and does anyone have any further info on whats going there..... Please HELP!!!!
We are owners at the Royal Caribbean in Cancun. I am happy to tell you they maintain the resorts very well. It is the cleanest resort in the area. They have 5 resorts in Cancun and a newer one in the Playa area 40 miles south of Cancun. The annual fees are pretty high in my opinion and have increased every year.
I hope the interests of the week owners at the Aruban are protected. Good luck all.
ORANJESTAD — The government announced that five candidates have reported for the purchase of The Aruban Resort. The government is working hard on a plan to re-open The Aruban within short. The hotel is to be sold through an auction.
According to Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Otmar Oduber (AVP), a management team is ready to ‘open the hotel within 24 hours’. He states that the government has a ‘moral debt’, which has to be paid. “The legal part should be solved. There is an investment plan and the people and companies are ready to re-open the hotel.” However, the mortgagees, approx. 4.800 people with a timeshare-unit, still have to agree.
An alternative is to wait until the general meeting of the timeshare holders, which is scheduled for next month. During this meeting, one could decide to appoint a new management team, which could be realized within five to six weeks, according to the government. However, both solutions are temporary, Oduber explains. It is the intention that the hotel will eventually be sold through an auction. “Nevertheless, it will take at least four or five months before the sale has been finished.”
That is great news and I have heard of a few of the companies interested as I am sure many have.... I would love to see it become what it once was..... a place we all visited, enjoyed and built memories to last a lifetime...... Thanks Marl
