Construction at Wyndam - Beware!

Just got back from 10 days in Aruba; great trip. We spent 5 nights at the Radisson and 4 nights at the Wyndham.

As a word of caution, the Wyndham is currently building a new ballroom and construction won't be complete until December 2004.

Construction occurs every day (excluding Sunday) from 7:00AM to 6:00PM with everything from hammers to heavy machinary.

I was up every morning by 7:15 thanks to the sound of hammers that I could have sworn were on my balcony (room 525). Level 5 is the lowest floor with rooms on it and currently the most affected, but as the ballroom goes up, the sound will undoubtedly affect higher floors.

The front desk operators and subsequently managers told me every morning that construction wouldn't start until 10:00AM, but it was a lie. If my company wasn't footing the bill for the four nights at the Wynhdam, we would have moved hotels.

I wouldn't stay here unless you are an early riser or enjoy beying lied to by the managers on duty.

Re: Construction at Wyndam - Beware!

i stayed here two weeks ago on the 14th floor on the other side (pool side), even numbers and never heard a sound. I would have insisted on a move if I had been affected by the noise.

Re: Construction at Wyndam - Beware!

I stayed there last week, 18th floor, odd number side (construction side) and did hear the noise, but because we were so far up, it was not a major problem.

Re: Construction at Wyndam - Beware!

I stayed recently at Wyndham Aruba and I had a wonderful time. I stayed on the 9th floor and had no problem with noise. I slept like an angel! but I tried not to spend all my time in the room. Their are many outdoor activities to enjoy on the island.
