Do you always go back to the same resort?

Just curious, I know we all go back to Aruba but I wonder how many of us go to the same resort each trip? We are coming up on our 7th trip and each time we have stayed at the Divi. There is something to be said about the familiarity of returning to the same place and always receiving a big welcome, but I do wonder what it would be like at another resort.

We've stayed at a few different resorts (and rented a villa) over the many years of traveling to Aruba. We finally found our "home" at Amstedam Manor in 2004 and have been staying there ever since.

Back in the mid 90's we stayed at the Aruba Palm Beach Resort/Aruba Grand (no longer there) and also rented a timeshare a few times at LaCabana (we would split up our 2 weeks - one week on Palm Beach and one week on Eagle Beach.) Also stayed at Manchebo a couple of times.

Being long time guests at Amsterdam Manor gives us Brights on ice in the room when we arrive and usually a bottle of white in the frig. Spent my birthday there last Sept. and they sent a birthday cake and a very nice bottle of champagne to the room that morning. It helps that they're a smaller resort so they can get to know their repeat guests easily.

But it was always fun trying a new place, too.

We really do stay at the same place each year. The Radisson has everything we want. After a few years at the Hyatt, we took an evening a toured (again) each of the hotels that we liked on Palm Beach.... DW fell in love with the Radisson and we've been converts ever since. I prefer Palm Beach because of the proximity of the casinos..... however we will be touring a couple of Eagle beach properties this year when we go. We're quite interrested in checking out Manchebo and Bucuti Tara.

Take the time to check out a couple of properties is something catches your attention!

I have stayed in at least 8 different places over the last half dozen years. The only place we have stayed more than once is the Divi. I love the combination of small hotel and proximity to the water there. I would like to try a few more of the low rise options as I don't think the food at the Divi is all that good, though I do love the pizza shops there.

Our first two trips we stayed at Holiday Inn but our upcoming trip will be at the Marriott Surf Club because we found a great deal on a timeshare rental from a private party. We go for value and location, and my dh is a creature of habit. We also had 2 nights at the Tropicana on our first visit. We decided those nights that Eagle beach is not for us. I would love to try the Radisson, but its just not in our budget. If it was up to me we would do a few nights at the Renn downtown, and one of these days it will happen. I think we would like the Westin or Divi Pheonix area. So many places to stay, we just have to keep going back!
Not sure when, but we will be back

Our first trip we stayed at the Holiday Inn. The following year we were given a week at the Caribbean Palm Village. We purchased a week there and have been returning for 23 years in a row. We will be returning (hopefully) for our 24th visit this summer and will continue to celebrate our 40th anniversary year!

Sometimes our family requires an all inclusive package and sometimes we do not. Where we stay is also highly dependent upon our budget.

Our next trip we will be traveling with my father who insisted on an all inclusive package. In light of the poor food and a few other "issues" which I will detail in my trip report, he will NOT return to the Tamarijn. I have waited a considerable amount of time before writing my review hoping that some distance from the situation would have given some clarity but it just did not happen. I am almost finished with it and hope to post it soon.

We had actually seriously considered an alternative Caribbean island, but all inclusive choices there were limited and the island overall more expensive.

Traveling over Christmas and New Years the crowds on Palm Beach were a huge negative for us. The only resorts we would have considered there would be the Radisson or Westin. The Westin's all inclusive price was sky high and the Radisson does not offer any meal plan at that time of year.

After the process of elimination for other all inclusive optional resorts on the island, for our upcoming trip, we will be staying at the Amsterdam Manor through their all inclusive package. It offers us the best option for what our family requires. Staying in a 2 bedroom suite also makes it less expensive than two hotel rooms. Knowing how much we love the food and service at Passions and the Amsterdam Manor's high rating on tripadvisor we are confident that this will be the right fit for us.

We are going for our 11th trip in May and have always stayed at the Divi. The staff always says "WELCOME HOME" when they see us. This is why I would never want to stay anywhere else.
    Love my Aruba family!!

Arubalisa I'm looking forward to your trip report especially with regard to the food at the Tamarijn. On one trip we were really unhappy with the food at the Divi and I returned their comment card noting that along with some suggestions. We thought about trying someplace else but really like the layout at the Divi. Fortunately when we were there in October we were happier with the quality. That said, this trip we ended up taking advantage of their cyber sale with rooms at 50% off so I'll have no problem going off resort for dinner.

We stay at Divi Village, but we are also timeshare owners there....like the lowrise area, less crowded, more beach space...less hectic...but of course that is IMO only...
