I just had to post to say we have only ever stayed at the Tamarijn as here in the UK it is the cheapest option away from Palm Beach as an AI package.
This year will be our 8th time to the Tamarijn, over the last 3 years the food had got worse each visit. Last year we decided to eat at Mulligans across in the other resort with some vouchers the Tam gave us and it made me realise how bad the food has got at the Tam!! (Hopefully better this year)
We return only because of the location, and room with sea / beach view. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and glad to see us - and that goes a long way really
We are at the same Resort, from the moment we bought it( over 12 years)... Paradise Beach Villas...Christmas- new Years 2 weeks...Can not beat it...I would guess, that You won`t be able to rent anything else during those Holiday weeks.
It's always been the Tamarijn, except for one week last year at the Divi timeshares across the road from the beach. And, considering the Lady and her sister have "inherited" a timeshare at the Divi, I suppose that will be the location for the next bunch of years.
One year at the Tam, one at the Divi.... sharing ya know.
Why the Tam? Well, the first place the Lady stayed at on the island was the Americana (long gone) and wasn't all that happy staying in a high rise.
After that first year it was the Tamarijn, that was years before I showed up, and I'm frankly happy to go wherever she'd like. I trust her judgment. That and the fact that as someone else previously mentioned, the folks at the Divi/Tamarijn ALWAYS treat us royally. You gotta love that...
And no, the food at the Tam may not always be great, but I've never had an adverse reaction to it, and besides, it's a good reason to walk the beach to the Divi...!
I'm coming up on my 14th year, the Lady's 21st.
Eagle Beach to relax / Malmok, Boca Catalina & Arashi for snorkeling / Carte Blanche, Senior Frog's, Zeerovers, Sopranos Piano Bar, Kuku Kanuku & The Pata Pata Bar / The weekend flee market.
We are also going back for our 7th trip. The first 4 trips we flip flopped between La Cabana & Surf, twice each. Although the Surf is very very nice, we have settled on La Cabana as we found Palm Beach to be very crowded as compared to Eagle Beach. Eagle is more wide open. We do love Palm Beach at night, lots of action there.
Pelican Pier at sunset with a bucket of Brights!
Sunsets at Bunker Bar
LG Smith Steakhouse, Paddock
Our first 2 years in Aruba we stayed at Allegro AL (now Occidental) fell in love with Aruba and loved the Allegro. Once the Allegro was undergoing renovations and would not be open for our next visit we tried the Divi AL. I love, love, love the Divi AL the bar staff, housekeepers, front desk and everyone in between are the best! I did stay at the Occidental during Christmas 2010 for my special birthday only because the Divi Al price during that time was doubled I did not care for Occidental and the amount of beach chairs on the beach was crazy! I will never go anywhere other than Divi AL from now hoping it stays the way it is, I belive the beach is the best as well and never crowded. I also enjoy seeing some of the same people from year to year (including Pegmeister and her husband) as well as new friends. Divi Al is my home away from home
Our first trip to Aruba we stayed at the Manchebo and bought a timeshare at Paradise Beach Villas. We have been there since 2001 and now stay for two weeks each year (Jan/Feb). We feel no desire to switch to another location.
The Eagle Beach area is quieter, less crowded and more laid back than Palm Beach and that's the way we like it. We are within walking distance (and I don't like to walk) of two casinos and several restaurants. It's a short drive to the high rise area if we want to indulge in all that area has to offer and a similar distance in the other direction if we want to go downtown.
We are timeshare owners at LaCabana, but have readily deposited them into interval bank and have traded into numerous Aruba resorts...........Aruba Grand (now the Riu), Renaissance Ocean Suites, Divi Phoenix, Casa Del mar, Aruba Beach Club...and the list goes on.
We like our timeshare at LaCabana.
We love the Renaissance, even though the units are older and in tough shape.
(boy do they need a remake!!!)
We prefer Eagle beach or Renaissance Island.
The only resort we did not like was the Holiday Inn. Nothing special imo.
But, it did fit our wallet at the time.
We stayed at Tamarijn a few times and loved it. Food was ok, beverages exceptional.......liked being able to go over to Divi AI to the red Parrot restaurant there.
Stayed at Marriott and Renaissance Marina pre and post timeshare and loved the tower, and marriott.......not so much.
First time was at Paradise Beach Villas, La Cabana, Divi Dutch, Divi Golf, Casa Del Mar and La Cabana for the next 2 trips and in May La Cabana again. I love Eagle Beach! I should try the Amsterdam but I never see it available on Interval for exchange...
