First Timer w/ Questions

Hi! I'm new to the board & am trying to plan a family trip for this fall. I have a few questions though, so here goes:
1) I'm looking at 10/16-10/23, how is the weather in October?
2) What resort would you recommed? We're 34yrs old with two girls who will be 5 & 14.
3) We can fly ATA on those dates from Chicago for $1950... are there any other airlines I should consider?
4) Is it cheaper to book a package with a TA? (I've done all our vacation bookings for the last 3yrs and have always found cheaper rates than our local TA but since this is a MAJOR trip, I'm a little unsure)

Anything else you think I should know, please feel free! My email is collina.gast@mchsi.com. Thanks So Much!

A few answers

2) with two girls who will be 5 & 14.
---- Might want to look into a 2 bedroom timeshare at like Casa del Mar or Costa Linda.
3) We can fly ATA on those dates from Chicago for $1950...
---- If that is your total for 4 with all taxes and fees doubt if cheaper price anywhere for a Saturday.
4) Is it cheaper to book a package with a TA?
---- Packages are cheaper with anybody.

Re: First Timer w/ Questions

Collina,
The weather in Oct. is great (it's always nice)

We have an 8 year old, we have stayed at LaCabana the last 4 times we were there. It's a great resort for the kids. Plenty of kids activities and pleanty of kids.

Book a package with a TA. Ask for a grand suite in the back building, it's a short walk down to the pool/beach but worth it.
The rooms are large suites with enough room for 4. Go all inclusive.

The island as a whole is very family friendly.

Re: First Timer w/ Questions

AS Ohers have suggested the weather is always great.Go to www.PlayaLinda.com all the rentals available.I would suggest Phases 2 r 3,third floor or higher overlooking the pool(not Holiday Inn side).Should be able to get a Unit accomodating 5 people for about $1100-$1300 foe the week !It's a great family place !

Re: First Timer w/ Questions

I agree laCabana seems to be set up for kids activities compared to the high-rises.
