Holiday Inn Sunspree

How bad is the Holiday Inn Sunspree.. The feedback is widespread, from the worst place on earth to a great place to stay, which is it??

Can it be as bad as St. Croix hotels??

I also responded to your other post... But, it is a Holiday Inn. A Holiday Inn is a Holiday Inn! Just don't expect the Marriott or Hyatt. I'm sure it didn't cost quite as much either though!

Re: Holiday Inn Sunspree

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree several times and was always very happy. It may not be the Marriott or Hyatt - But the people are very friendly and not a bunch of snobs like the people that I encountered at both the other hotels. I like to feel comfortable when in Aruba - Not be around a bunch of no personality rich snobs. I have money also but I don't walk around like I am better than anyone else. The Holiday Inn has a wonderful beach with a fantastic view from the Ocean front rooms. I would rather stay there and feel at home than try and deal with people who think they are better than other people.

Re: Holiday Inn Sunspree

Just got back from Aruba. Been there 3 times, last 2 stayed at the Holiday Inn. It's the oldest hotel on the island and the rooms need a little work. But the food, drinks and price are great. How long do you spend in your room anyway?

Re: Holiday Inn Sunspree

A friend of mine just got back from Aruba also. They too, stayed at the Holiday Inn, no complaints. They had a great time. I saw pictures and the view was amazing from their 5th floor room. They had dinner and drinks the first night at a little restaurant on the pier. Is that at the Holiday Inn? Do you know the name of it? I definately want to vacation in Aruba very soon!

I'm listening to the positive messages ONLY about HI since we are booked to go in 4-1/2 weeks - we're staying in a standard room -- should we request any particular one (part of hotel)?

Sue only wants positive messages about the HI. The HI is positively a "DUMP".

Re: Holiday Inn Sunspree

I heard they just renovated the HI. I was planning on booking there this year but now I'm having doubts! I don't need a fancy room, but I want a clean room! I've heard both good and bad and am not sure if I should book there now. Also, are the towers the place to be at the HI? Are they different from the other rooms? HELP!!

Re: Holiday Inn Sunspree

The towers in the main Hotel are the rooms to stay in - The third tower makes you feel like you are not part of the hotel. Any "BEACH FRONT ROOM" from the 4th floor and up is the way to go - the views are fantastic and the sunsets are something to see. I have pictures of one I took and believe me it looks like a post card. I believe one of the main towers is called Bonaire tower - just ask to stay in either tower that is directly connected to the main hotel and you can't go wrong. I can't wait to go back - hopefully very soon. They were starting the renovations the week that we were down their 1 year ago last August so it should be completed by now. Just enjoy the Island because it is true what they say "It is One Happy Island"
