La Cabana Question
Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place. But since it wasn't about selling or buying a timeshare, I wasn't sure if I should post it there or not....
Anywho, I was wondering for anyone that has a timeshare or has stayed there.. did they take a debit/ATM card with the Visa logo for the deposit. We are happy to annouce that we got rid of all our debt and cut up the cards. So we don't have a major credit card to use. We will have cash or the ATM/Debit card....so will that work...or will I have to borrow someone elses card just for the deposit. I figured I would ask here first before I picked up the phone and called. Thanks for any information

A debit card is NOT as safe as a credit card. But sunlover asked if she could use the debit card for La Cabana. Things can always happen anywhere but I feel the people that work at the front desk and accounting office at Lacabana are a higher caliber employees and her debit card would be safe. I probably would (but don't) use a debit card at a reputable car rental company. I would NOT use a debit card at any companies for watersports, tours or restaurants.
I personally don't use a debit card for purchases. I'm a nervous wreck walking around with cash. I bring to Aruba at the most $50 and use the ATM daily for my casino spending. Everything else is on a credit card. Sunlover has her reasons for not having any credit cards. It is none of my businesss but If anyone is of the age that would be purchasing in the coming years a home, a car or any major purchases that you want to finance, getting rid of all credit cards is not a good decision. You need a credit card and pay it off in a timely manner for a good credit rating. |

Have you looked into pre-paid credit card? Personally, I would feel much safer using one rather than a debit card. Congratulations for paying off your debt!!!

I have had no problem using my debit card from B of A. You do incur additional fees using a card though. I prefer travelers checks. I have never had a problem with them being accepted anywhere on the island.
19 weeks to go. I'm getting the fever. I'm starting to get those Aruba nightmares again where the week is over in a blink. Looking forward to being greeted by those sad week 26 people behind the glass at the gate going home. |

Oh isn't it really sad looking at the people who are leaving when we're all coming in. Last few times I have really taken a look at them and they are all sad. Now I know what we all look like on our return trip home. Two weeks to go until Paridise.....
