Unhappy LaCababa Villas/BRC different entities?

I was informed that the LaCabana Villas and the LaCabana Beach & Racquet Club are now two seperate entities. If you are staying at the Villas you may no longer use the facilities associated with the BRC and there is now security who hound you if you don't belong on one property vs the other.

I have a week reserved at a Villa in June. I have emailed the LaCabana directy and have not received a reply.

I guess what I want to know is, how would one know if you were staying at the Villas vs. BRC? I have stayed at the Villas at least once a year for the last four years and was free to use anything located on the LaCabana property.

Also, I enjoy going to the gym on a regular basis (yes, even on vacation) am I not allowed to use the gym or the pool (for water areobics) associated with the BRC?

Any insight would be helpful!

Thanks!!

I own both at the BRC and the Villas.

The BRC got new towels last year - solid green. The Villa towels are the same - white & green strip. If staying at the Villas, there is a $10 per person, per day charge to use the health club. If you dine at any of the BRC restaurants or buy drinks at the Pata Pata pool bar or Cadushi Lounge, you cannot charge to the room. Cash or credit cards are accepted.

Thanks for the info Liz, I am staying at the Villas for 3 days before checking into my timeshare. This is really good to know! I had heard of some changes, but didn't know what the changes were.

Thanks again!

also too............

the Villa folks are not allowed to use the pool and hot tub at the BRC.

the Villa folks and the BRC folks are all allowed to use the shade huts and lounge chairs on the beach in front of the BRC resort.

as far as the security "hounding" folks, i am not sure that i would call it hounding.
the security are following the orders from the BRC's management and the "so called divorce" between the Villas and the BRC.

Things are better though than last year at this time...........!

The BRC's new management style is terrific and their board is right on top of things. As for the Villas.............i have no idea.

Andrea

See, I was right to suspect the towels.

I also suspect Colonel Mustard in the library with the candle stick.

I am coming down late Oct. and staying at the Villas with 3 other couples. have heard all the hub ub regarding La Cabana but for $10/day can use all the BRC ammenities. Beach and huts open to everyone. What color "green" are the BRC towels?? I'm staying at the Villas via an Interval International "getaway" which was a very good price but have heard Villas tack on a big amt of $$ for tax to villas stay? Anyone with info. on this?

Thumbs up Beach Chairs

I'm staying at LaCabana BRC in Sept., I was wondering how easy it is to access beach chairs. Thanks, Helmut

Let me begin byt saying THANK YOU for the replys and assistance.

I am not sure what the new tax for the Villas are, however I think they were $7.50 a day in the past. I tried to locate my "aruba" folder to check my receipt and no luck, sorry. I did read somwhere (maybe tripadvisor) that the tax increased to $13 per day .... I am not sure.

Getting huts on Eagle Beach is not usually too difficult. We are usually up 8ish and I have noticed they tend to get consumed by 9:30. I would not recommend "reserving" one, but there are no "rules" --- you are on vacation :-)
