LaCabana

I'm staying in LaCabana in Sept and after reading the postings I'm a bit concerned about my wife and I hanging out with kids all week....don't get me wrong, I love kids but not too much on my vacation. Should we stay somewhere else? Aren't most kids in school in Sept? Is it a long walk to the beach? How are the bars?
...we're probably doing the all-inclusive.

thanks

RE: LaCabana

We've been going there with and without kids for 11 years. The beach is no further than other resorts but you do need to cross a small road. I would not do the all inclusive meals as there as so many options on the island that you will want to try. See if they have a program for all inclusive beverages or just for a few days. The pool has 3 sections and kids usually congregate around the water slide or in the shallower piece. It's never been a problem. There's the galley bar and the bar at the pool. There are also many night spot bars in town.

RE: LaCabana

We have stayed at the LaCabana about 10 times. There wern't too many kids. The pool bar is great, don't go all inclusive. There are so many great places to eat. My married children have each been there four times in the last 2 years and are going in April. The Marriott Ocean Club is even nicer but cost's more. Just be sure you stay in the front building. The back building near Dunkin Donuts has the kids. Judy

RE: LaCabana

The place to stay in Aruba is palm beach not Eagle Beach. It is just like Hawaii or better according to friends who have gone to both. The beach has palm trees all around. It is just so much classier than the La Cabana. Never too crowded.

My favorite resort is the Aruba Grand. See my advertisment. You have plenty of beautiful beach with no roads to cross.Much less children but just enough to make you smile. It is an older crowd but you cannot beat the condos. You walk out of your room and you are on the beach.

February is the time to go because it is canival time. Wrought iron fenced in front yard with beautiful garden, two lounge chairs and a table. Open the gate and you are on the beach. RU kidding me the bar tenders are great. I have been going there for 15 years. Just bought a two bedroom beach front villa. I have a one bedroom beach front villa. Selling or renting week 6, Friday to Friday, 2/7/03 to 2/14/03. Always falls around that time. Carnival and Aruba where else would you want to be in the middle of winter.

Good luck crossing that road. It is road runner time. BEEP BEEP.

Sincerely,

RE: LaCabana

lacabana is great there are plenty of couples, the kids dont get in the way, its a clean and fun resort with a lot of activites if you chosse to participate. The road to the beach is minor not even anything to talk about- you'll see when you get there and wonder why it was even made an issue. The all inclusive is a matter of choice we stayed at lacabana last dec and jan for 2 wks and decieded when we go back this year 1 of the 2 wks were going to go all inclusive its a lot less work , an average drink is 5.00 annd an average cost of a meal is 17 to 20.00 so it adds up quick! but on the flip slide aruba has a lot of good rest. so again its a matter of choice! have a great time in aruba! Lacabana is a great resort with or without kids!

RE: Trip Report

We just returned from two fantastic weeks in Aruba at LaCabana. This was our ninth trip to Aruba and we enjoyed it as much as the first trip, maybe more. As usual, LaCabana was great, the people as friendy as usual and the resort clean and beautiful. Seems everything we did turned out great - but that's no surprise.

RE: Trip Report

My husband and I just got back from La Cabana and had a great time. We stayed in a Grand Villa in the very back building closer to the waterfall pool and it was quiet. Yes, there were a lot of kids but there are also several pools and a large beach so we found it to be no problem. Get a car--Optimo Rental on premises--it's easy to drive around the island. Do not do the all-inclusive, there's far too many great restaurants in Aruba. The Happy Hours are really fun and there's the Casino and The Hangout--Happy Hour is at 10:00-11:00 and live music 10:00-2:00 a.m., several times a week. Lots of sailing and watersports available on the island, never run out of things to do. We have stayed at the Sonesta Suites before and enjoyed ourselves but we still get more for the money at La Cabana!
