Cool Lacabana and other Info Please!!

Hello Everyone.
We are finally getting back to our home away from home after 2 years. We have been going to Aruba since 1995 and have seen many changes over the years. Expecting to see LaCabana almost all anew. Can anyone tell me if the Lobby is finished? Does anyone have photo's? Has the Casino at the "Captains Table " been started?
Along with all the changes on the Island I know many projects were started two yrs ago. Can anyone tell us what to expect in changes . Have they started the supper market where the Black Hog used to be etc. We will be arriving April 30th "YIPPEE" and just would like some INFO to dream on for the next few weeks. Thanks so much.

Cool Good news

Thanks for the update Andrea. We are very excited and two years is way to long to be away. Can't wait to feel that heat and sunshine. Its been a long winter here in Ma.

Just returned Sunday. Lobby not finished. We were told, "maybe by April 1st". Nothing happening down hall where casino will be. I will say that with temporary lobby, check-in and check-out procedures seem to go much faster and smoother.
Still the issue with people stacking chairs and "marking their spots" poolside. One table had 24 chairs and 16 lounges saved and were never ticketed. New tagging rules by security, if you save table before 6 you MUST be there or at 6 or they take your stuff. Only other tagging is now at 8.
Lots of major complaints. Issue could very easily resolved if resort supplied more chairs. Not everyone likes a lounge.

When we go there never seems to be a problem with chairs or papalas must be the time of year at low season. Usually it just not that crowded..NICE Hopefully its still that way.

i spoke with owner services this morning and was told again "probably by week's end".

asked again about the casino and was told of "a permit process review" and hopefully sometime open late summer or fall.

thanks pgsoder
i KNOW those folks that save those 16 lounges and chairs.
they are UNBELIEVABLE.

few years ago i made comment on this forum of the offenders, hauling a little wagon full of GREEN RESORT towels to distribute them on every chair /lounge around the pool beginning near the water slide and working their way to the area directly in front of the water aerobics section.

Maybe the rule should be, "no reserving - first come, first served".

what i understand the rule to be and the rule i follow.......
grab your chair and shade, park yourself there, do not leave it unattended til 8 am.
then, you are allowed to leave it for a maximum of 2 hrs.
if you do not return in 2 hrs, stuff is collected brought to security and the area is given to someone else.
my routine was go to the pool at around 7 with my stuff..........stay til paul came down and then we'd be there for the day.
