lacabana villas

Can anyone please tell me anything they have heard about lacabana villas. I have heard many bad things, villas owners cannot use beach facilities or any of the beach and racket club amenities. It sounds like the villas is in trouble. Is this so? is there a problem with the villas, Please, any accurate advice would be qreatly appreciated.

Thank You

Re: lacabana villas

I did go to the web site. It does not tell
much.if you are a owner of the beach and racket club you can log into the member area and find info from that site, If you are owner of the villas there is not much info there infact no mention of what you can no longer do.

Re: lacabana villas

Hi Matt
The villas is no longer part of the BRC so as of Jan 1,,2007 they can not use any of the BRC facilities at BRC.....TRUE
but no one is stoping them from useing the beach All the beaches are public jst because they are in fron of their units does not mean a thing.
Villas can still use the casino & Rest.

Re: lacabana villas

Hi Matt..we've stayed at the Villas three years in a row and we'll stay again. We had full use of all facilities and never had any problems. We've always stayed in a large suite and the rooms were very nice and clean. The walk to the beach is a little long but it helped keep off the excess weight from all the great food. Good luck.

Re: lacabana villas

Matt,

I just came back from Lacabana Villas and own a unit. For the last few years, the Villas have been in receivership due to a bankruptcy. Although La Cabana is perceived as 1 resort it is technically two separate real estate entities, which up until last year, were treated as one from a guest perspective. A year ago, the BRC cancelled the contract with OHEM which was managing BRC and Villas. Now OHEM is just managing the Villas. At that time, the Villas quickly set-up their own check-in area, billing and telephone system. The only impact was that you couldn't charge BRC food/drinks/etc. to your Villa room. This year, starting 1/1/07 the BRC tried to limit the Villas from using the pool and chairs/huts on the beach. This caused alot of commotion and they delayed enforcing this. To help implement the distinction between Villas and BRC, the BRC changed the color of the 'pool' towels so that the BRC is green and the Villas have green and white striped. When I left last week, they put numbers on the huts on the beach and it sounds like you'll reserve the huts (vs. coming down each day early) and I'm speculating this is how they will limit them to BRC. As mentioned in the other post, the beach is public and as I understand it, there is right-of-way which allows Villa guests to walk through the BRC lobby and past the pool area to the beach (and BRC owners to come to Villa pools) so access to the beach isn't limited. The question is where you sit and have shade. There are companies interested in buying the Villas and having a casino. Hopefully they will be purchased and then there will be some money invested to update the rooms and also work out some arrangement with the BRC to allow Villa guest/owners to use facilities at the BRC. I assume you are an owner and as you said, there is very little communication coming from the management company and on the website. Unfortunately we can no longer see the BRC bulletin board, where alot of good information was shared. It would be nice to have some communication with other Villa owners since we have common interests. Perhaps we can share some emails and make it easier to share information. Let me know if you think this is worthwhile.

Regards, Phil
