If you don't care to be near the beach and you would rather be in the downtown area then this would be ok.
Many of the hotels are on the west side of the island and prefer it there because of the beaches, various watersports, etc.
If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay and not worried about the amenities you may want to consider the Sunset Blvd, Aruba Beach Villas, or the Boardwalk.
