Need advice -- High Rise v. Low Rise

Haven't been to Aruba in many years -- previously stayed at Radisson (before renovations). So many postings and much confusion about where to stay and which beach (Palm or Eagle) is better. Hubby and I are looking for quiet, peaceful time so with apologies to those of you who are parents, we are looking for less family oriented and more adult kind of vacation. Any advice?

Carole,
Never been to Aruba...Nov will be my first time....from what I've read on this board and many others...Bucuti is the closest you will get to "Adults Only".
I guess it would also depend on when you plan on visiting...by earlt Sept I would think most kids are back in school..then you just need to watch out for Teacher's convention in November when schools close.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Kate, you should love Aruba. I've been several times but not for quite a while. Are you going early or late November? Make sure you use plenty of sunscreen -- with the tradewinds blowing, the sun's heat can be deceiving. And believe it or not, if you spend a lot of time in the sun, cover up your head because your scalp can get burned (just happened to a friend who was there). Hope you enjoy your trip!

The Divi Phoenix is great for couples. My husband and I could rock in their large hammock together and the ocean area was mostly free of people. The restaurant there is also great and very romantic. And you can walk to the other high rises fairly easily along the sidewalk that joins them all along the beach.

Kate, that's about the time we're thinking of going. Still researching hotels and airfare. Was going to ask you to post a description of your trip and any advice if you were going early November so I could read it before we go, but if things work out, we'll be there the same time as you. Maybe we'll see you there.

I fry too if I don't keep sunscreen on, you certainly don't want to get burned the first day and ruin the rest of the trip!

Oh my heavens..stay at the Bucuti..it's the best beach, no kids, great new suites that open up onto the beach. The upgrade is worth the money..this is the place for quiet. we were there in June..check out the Tripadvisor.com web site for comments on places, too

Sophie -- thanks. I'll check it out. Can I ask a few questions since you stayed at the Bucuti? Saw pool and outside bar in video and they seemed small -- or did I maybe not see the whole picture? Are there enough palapas to go around, do they charge? Thanks for your advice.
