Occidental Allegro or Holiday Inn or other AI places

My wife and I are looking to go back to Aruba in Dec. We were there a year ago and stayed at the Allegro and went with the AI and loved it. Looking at staying there again but wandered about the Holiday Inn and the other AI places.

From friends who have stayed at HI and reading comments from people on the bb's seems people do not recommend the all-inclusive at this hotel. I think the Wyndham may also have all-inclusive. Divi and Tam in the low-rise area are totally all-inclusive.

We will be staying at the HI at the end of June. Most of the stuff I have read indicatest that it is nice. As always though, there will be some bad reports. My experience is that if you are not happy with the room, etc... They will go out of their way to try and accomodate you. I think that it is going to be a wonderful trip.

Re: Holiday Inn or other AI places

Hi There,

Just came back from Aruba with a friend of mine. We were there from Mar 23-30 and stayed at the HI. I was a little apprehensive staying at the HI after reading some of the negative comments about it on this message board. However, I was extremely satisfied with our choice. First of, we got upgraded to a "partial" ocean view room upon check in, didn't even ask. The room was very clean despite what some have said. All rooms have a balcony or porch. The food was more than decent. Dinner a-la-carte in the restaurant is excellent. A few of the items have a surcharge but it's clearly noted on the menu and won't cost more the $6 for any item. Buffet dinner is also good, but there is added entertainment every night. Lunch at the Sea Breeze is also good. The beach is magnificent, and most people agree it's the best portion along Palm Beach. The water sports are right in front of you on the beach so you won't have to walk far to get to them. All in all, for the price I paid, it's well worth it. I can't speak for any of the other hotels in Aruba but I'd definitely return to the HI.

I don't recommend all-inclusive. There are too many good restaurants on the island. It's the day's entertainment to deceid where to eat. But make sure you make all your res. 1st day you get there.

How was the pool there? It doesn't look so great on the website. Do they have a swim up bar? A bar on the beach? Thanks for any help you can give. I wasn't even considering the HI
