Occidental-Good Idea??

Hello-
I am looking for any info on the Occidental. I stayed there when it was the Allegro, but has it improved??? Also, does anyone know if they serve BudLight??? This is also a condition of this resort!
If you did not like the Occidental where else would you reccommend?????
Thank you

Re: Occidental-Good Idea??

There are several posts on the ALL TOPICS page of this site regarding the Occidental. The last one was on 4/7/03 and it seems everyone one there had nice things to say about the hotel.
I am going back for my second visit in 2 months next week. I happen to like the hotel. I dont look for 5*, just clean, and nice. And the Occidental does all that and more. The people are great and the beach is fabulous...

My wife and I stayed there and it was fine. Yes it needs an update but the pool beach area is wonderful!!!! We went AL the food was okay - the shows at night are fun...the kids work their butts off to perform.

Re: Occidental-Good Idea??

My husband and I just got back from Aruba. We stayed at the Occidental (Allegro) not AI. I think they have the best beach in the palm beach area. The pool area was great too, even though we didn't spend time at the pool. We ate breakfast there a few times and had dinner across the road at Tangos. They have great food and the wait staff was very friendly. We also ate at Salt & Peppers and Fish & More. Very good food at all 3 places. Plus the have live entertainment every night.
Back to the Occidental ~ Our room was nice, but they do need to update their rooms. They were clean and the view was nice and all their work staff there was very friendly and helpful. The casino could have paid out a little better, but can't win them all.
When we go back, we will stay at the Occidental again.
We also went on an Island bus tour thru WIX tours. It was a afternoon tour and the driver gave us alot of information about Aruba. It was a nice way to see the Island if you didn't rent a car or jeep.

Re: Occidental-Good Idea??

We stayed there when it was the
Allegro and absolutely loved it. All inclusive of course. We never really found a reason to have to go elsewhere to eat or for entertainment!! We are planning our second trip this Sept and plan on staying there!!

Re: Occidental-Good Idea??

ArubaLover --- I couldn't agree with you more. I stay at the Occidental twice a year, and this December will be my 8th time in Aruba. I have stayed at the Wyndham and the Occidental. The Wyndham was nice, but my family and I keep returing to the Occidental. The rooms are clean, and comfortable and the people are amazing. So frendly and nice. The pool and the ocean are beautiful and there are always activities to do around the hotel. If you like fresh and great quality seafood, I suggest The Waterfront Crabhouse. I'm not a real big seafood lover, but I do like Snowcrab, and this place has the best garlic snowcrab I have ever tasted. El Gaucho is a great restaurant for steak. You won't be dissapointed. To anyone who will be visiting Aruba soon, I wish you a safe and fun trip. I know you'll have a great time there, because the only way you couldn't have a great time in Aruba is because you didn't let yourself. Bon Bini!
