Does anyone have any info about the renovation programme about to commence at the Occidental? Also any info about the resort in general would be appreciated as being from the UK not a lot of folk know about this place( staying in October 2003).

I have been to the hotel several times in the past year alone, and it is great. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is spectacular, the people at the hotel are superb...the food is great. The rooms are what need the most work, and even they are not so bad.
The renovation is going to begin in June, and from what I have heard will go until December. I doubt they will be putting people out too much during that time since it is their slowest season, and they have the space to play around with.
Have a great time, I am going back in August...will let you know how it is going then!

I will be going there from June 3-9 sure hope things will be good it took me alot of time to know where I wanted to stay someone told me that they loved this place so that is why I picked it.
