Ocean Club

We will be staying at the Marriott Ocean Club next month. If anyone has any information or helpful hints for the trip it would be appreciated. We have a 2 bedroom. Hope it is nice. 30 days and counting.

We have owned at the Ocean Club for years (purchased pre-construction) and we love it. Units are large and well appointed. You can see some pictures at http://www.arubaoceanclub.com/. The local bus stops just outside the Marriott property and is a great way to get around and meet people. You can get to grocery stores (there are 4 on the bus line and they are within walking distance of each other), downtown, and the some beaches. If you plan go grocery shopping via bus, though, bring some tote bags to carry things back in. They use the same flimsy plastic used here.

The beach at the OC is fine so you don't have to go anywhere else for that. You can use the health club at Marriott Hotel (which also has a casino). Units have balcony which is very nice when the sun is not shining directly on it. Remember your camera for shots of the great sunsets. Bring sunscreen and use it early and often. You can get burnt even early and late in the day.

Smile more on ocean club

Thanks for the information.

We are Marriott owners but not in Aruba. What is the layout like are all rooms ocean view? Can this be requested if not? I have heard that washer/dryer is not in the rooms, do you need coins?

How far is the resort from the Old Man and The Sea and the Flying Fisbone?

Thumbs up

You should have a washer and dryer in your 2 bedroom. Call Marriott Reservations to confirm an ocean view. Otherwise you might have a garden view. I don't think you should have a problem getting an ocean view this time of year. Good Luck! We will be at the Renaissance. Welcome to One Happy Island!!!

The Marriott Ocean Club is pretty far from The Flying Fishbone or Old Man and the Sea. If you are renting a car, go for it. Otherwise, expect a $50 round trip cab ride.

There are no washers/dryers in the villas at the OC.
They are situated on each floor and they are free.

Also there is only 2 kind of views at the OC; Oceanview and Oceanfront.
But in reality there are many oceanview that aren't...

If you want a good oceanview and you're not an owner at the OC your chance are not very good...

Villa Assignments are prioritized in the following order:
-Owners in their owner week
-Home owners exchanging into their home resort
-Any other reservations which includes Marriott Owners, Exchangers, Preview Guests, Rentals, Non-Marriott owners.

Garden View

So if we do not get a ocean view, will I be very disappointed with the garden view?

Thanks for the information.

There is no Gardenview category at the OC.
Only Oceanfront or Oceanview.

But like I said some oceanview don't have a view of the ocean...

Why would you be disapointed? Smile you're going to Aruba!
Stop worrying about what you don't or might not have instead enjoy what you've got...

Whether you have an oceanview or not (and chances are you will have an oceanview because there are more of these than not) the Marriott Ocean Club is a great place to be. you do not, however, have a washer/dryer in your room - that's the Surf Club that has that. The washers/dryers/ I believe are either one on each floor or on every other floor. I have always had a villa with the washer on my floor, but I can't be positive that's always the case.

Have a fabulous time! Looking forward to my turn in June.
