palapas at La Cabana

We are thinking about staying at La Cabana next Feb, which will probably be one of the busiest times. How difficult is it to get a palapa? Do we need to stand in line every morning between 6:00 and 7:00? Can you reserve them in the afternoon for the next day? Does anyone know if you can pay and rent them by the week? Also, how can I find out if the person we might be renting from actually owns that week? Sorry for so many questions... Thanks to all. I love this forum. I wish I had discovered it before our first Aruba trip last Feb.

re: checking on authenticity of ownership.
contact desiree at lacabana member services
tell her the name and contract number and ask if the member (owner) is indeed the owner and in good standing.

yes the time would be by 6 am in order to get a front row hut at lacabana section of eagle beach. for back rows you can show up as late as 10 am.

no advanced reservations or fees for the palapa huts.

i know friends that are out there at 5 am. once you go there, you are not allowed to leave it unoccupied for more than 2 hours.

Or just email them and save yourself some money on a phone call. That's what we've done in the past when we've rented from owners and want to verify ownership first. They've always been very prompt at responding and it's nice to be able to print out the email for our travel files.

These 3 ladies all work in reservations for owners.
