Radisson?

My husband and I are looking to book a week in february at the Radisson. I've been to the website and it seems really nice.

I'm looking for any honest opinions of the place-(food, beach, rooms, service etc.). We stayed at the Allegro(now occitdental) 5 years ago and while the rooms were outdated we had a great time on the island over all. I cannot wait to return and would just like to know what to expect.

Oh, and one question my husband has, is there a swim-up bar at the pool? Thanks in advance everyone!

Re: Radisson?

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson last year and were very happy. It is beautifully landscaped and the rooms are very nice too. Only issue we had with the rooms is that there wasn't much space to unpack our stuff. Dresser space is very minimul. The pool is gorgeous. It has two zero entry pools separated by sand. You can lounge in the pool in chairs but there isn't any swim up bar.

We are hoping to return mid next year via timeshare at the Marriott. I believe they do have a swim-up bar. Can't wait!

Re: Radisson?

Just came back from Radisson with two kids and had a blast. Kids loved it and want to go back again! It is a 5 star hotel and magnificent. We ate breakfast at Laguna Fish Market or we found a Dunkin Donuts behind the Aruba Watersports Center that is between the Radisson and Allegro. As for lunch we ate at Gilligans. Our dinners we went to restaurants all over the island. Our room was surprisingly spacious. We had a partial ocean view, but it was definitely bigger than normal. You're only in your room to shower and sleep anyway. Have a great time! P.S. When I go back I would try for Radisson, Hyatt or Marriott!!

Re: Radisson?

Just got back from 9 days at the Radisson for my honeymoon. Depends on what you are looking for. I didn't think the Radisson was the best resort on the island in terms of decor. I thought the Hyatt and Mariott grounds were much nicer--but more crowded with kids at both those places. Radisson was more quiet and we definetly liked that. I am a huge beach person and I would go back to Radisson b/c I thought by far they had the niciest beach--and I got a hut every day!

Rooms were ok--not much space in a standard room, but I was hardly in the room, so who cares. Bed was comfy, but hotel likes to book you in rooms that you didn't request--so watch out. We arrived and had two double beds for our honeymoon. They moved us to a king after day three. This happened to other couples we met.

As far as swim up bar--there is none at the Radisson. The reason I never went in the pool probably. By far the Marriott has the nicer swim up bar (wrap around with tables). Hyatt has one too--not as nice.

Breakfasts at Laguana Fishmarket were just ok, nothing great. I expected more after hearing about the Hyatt breakfasts. Hyatt breakfasts are much better in my opinion.

Gilligans was ok for happy hour but drinks were way too expensive and lunch cost me and hubby almosy 40.00. We found a better place for lunch and drinks at Moomba Beach located next to the Holiday Inn. We walked there every day from the Radisson and had sandwiches and excellent service from the locals for cheap. Moomba is not associated with any hotels hence the cheap prices. It was a find!

There was a more elegant bar called Sol de Mare near lobby. Nice decor but very expensive. Glass of wine costs $9.00. We stayed away from that one after day one.

Radisson has a great restaurant called Sunset Grille that is worth the money. We thought it was one of the top places we ate at for service and food.

Overall good experience--not incredible, but beach was beautiful and well kept up--and NOT crowded! We would go back.
