need to get away for awhile. previously stayed at the old divi divi (honeymoon in 1972) and marriott in 1999. can anyone tell me about the accomodations at the renaissance property? i understand its downtown. do they have a private beach area?any info would be appreciated.

I have a time share there. We leave next week for 2 weeks. I have spent the last 5 years there and I just love it.

Reason I bought there is becuase it is in town.

My husband loves to just sit and relax in the sun, so he may go over to the private island or just sit by the pool.

Me on the other hand cannot sit too long in the sun. So I have the choice of either going back up to my room and enjoying a good book while I sit on my little balcony or I can stroll across the street to the casino (which I just love), I can walk to the different shops and if I really want to just get away into a nice cool place I can go to the movie.

It is near everything and I just love it.

Just returned, first trip. We loved the downtown location. We were at the marina tower and took the lobby shuttle boat to the private island daily, it's beautiful. plenty
of resturants waking distance, Iguana Joes
Carlos & Charlies, and plenty of shopping.
Rented a jeep for three days to see rest of the island.

there are 2 renaissance locations in town, the marina tower and the beach resort, we have a timeshare at the beach location and it is a great place. the rooms have there own frig and small kitchen where as the tower does not. have a great time...
