rent a timeshare or hotel room?

I've never been to Aruba and want to know if renting a timeshare is better than dealing directly with a hotel.

Thanks so much! I'm so excited to see the beautiful island!

My travel dates don't seem to coincide with the timeshare weeks. It's between week 51 & 52. (I think that's right)
Dec. 26-Jan. 1 or 2, 2008.

Re: rent a timeshare or hotel room?

Our first time in Aruba was in a hotel. Since then we stay in a timeshare at Marriott Surf club or Ocean Club. It is more like home away from home, lots of space. We use Ling & Sons for grocerys, its like shopping at home, good prices with beverages sold there...very clean, good fruit! Sometimes timeshares work out cheaper. Try Redweek.com for timeshare rental.

Re: rent a timeshare or hotel room?

We have been to Aruba 3 times and always rent a timeshare. We think it is the best value. We get our groceries at Ling&Sons and cook most nights. We usually go out for a couple of lunches and suppers. It is no problem finding good restaurants. Time Shares will also offer a more spacious atmosphere.

Enjoy! You will love Aruba!

I don't think you can beat a timeshare for space. Dining out in Aruba is very expensive and it's nice to be able to prepare breakfast or lunch and snacks, etc. Having said that, I usually do make plans to dine out in the evening because Aruba has so many wonderful restaurants.

Re: rent a timeshare or hotel room?

Debra, You have a difficult situation. All timeshares rent by either a Friday to Friday, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. No exceptions. Usually if you are midweek to midweek, you need to rent two weeks to get your one or take a hotel. Good luck. Linda
