Rental in January

My stepdaughter & her boyfriend want to go to Aruba for 5 days in January. She has heard me talk about going (our first time in December). They are 23 & 25. Can anyone recommend which hotel would be good for them? We are staying in an apartment and renting a car because we are going for 10 days. I tried to tell them it would be cheaper to rent an apartment or someplace with a kitchenette.

Since I have never been to Aruba before, I am not in a position to recommend since I don't know the layout of where everything is. They don't want to be far from the casinos, etc and don't want to drive afterwards, especially if they have a few drinks.

Any recommendations for first timer young adults. They are not the super partying type. They just want to be generally within walking distance of the action....

Thanks!!

I own a condo within walking distance to the beach, as well as a casino. For more info see our web site at http://www.arubarental.net

I have a 21 year old (almost) and I can only tell you what from this perspective. He loves the fact that we stay at the High Rise District/Palm Beach. The prices tend to be a little higher than in the low rise/Eagle Beach area but that is because you are right on a strip of restaurants, clubs and casinos. He is not a huge partier either but does enjoy some nightlife. Palm Beach is a little more "happening" for young adults (with no car and little money for taxis) and all within easy walking distance. Time shares are great as you are right on the beach and then you can have access to a full kitchen to help with the costs.

The two Marriott properties that are timeshares have a full one bedroom unit (bedroom and living room with full kitchen) and have lots of space but there are also studios available for less money. Queen size bed, pull out couch, table with chairs, balcony and a kitchenette that includes small fridge, microwave, sink, toaster, coffee maker. Perfect for 5 days. Most importantly, if you are coming to the Marriott property in January be mindful of your dates as the "religious" group comes and takes over the property. NOT A GOOD TIME TO COME!!

thanks everyone. She wants to stay in the high rise area, too. I can't blame her, I would want to at that age, too. she's now looking at the Holiday Inn SunSpree. They also give a discount, according to their website, to those in the military and since her boyfriend has done two stints in Iraq, I told her to check and see what they are talking about.

I also know that at that age, they change their mind ten times.. LOL, thanks again!!

Holiday Inn would be a great and affordable option. Perhaps she should check into not doing the meal plan. For a fee (I believe) you can request a fridge so breakfast and lunch could be looked after by purchasing groceries and then the extra $$ can be spent on dinners out.
