Shame on Tamajn

Dear Tam
You need to tell your bar tenders what all-inclusive means. I found it very difficult to get a drink unless I was waving money. Bad for you because I will not recommend your resort to anyone. The service was poor at the bars and the snack bar. Your time share people hog all the beach chairs and your wind surfing instuctor only gave me a five minute lesson then went inside and left me floating way out forever. Definatly a trailer trash resort.

I totally agree with you. The Tam, Divi and Holiday Inn are the lowest class resorts (if you can even call them "resorts") in Aruba and the kind of people they attract are uneducated traveling alcoholics.

Re: Shame on Tamarijn

Never had that problem. If you get a jerk at the bar, then hold money in your hand to get your drink and then walk away with the money and the drink!! Also please report back to us how you knew all the people hogging the chairs were from the timeshare. Did you go around marking a list after asking them?

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Gosh folks,
I'm a confused timeshare owner at Divi Village (although my first visit was to the Tamarijn & was *great*). You see Divi Resorts/Divi Village paid for the 'huts' and new lounges. The new ones came because the new Divi CEO supported both local management's desire to replace old inventory & the concerns of owners at the timshares. This occurred a little over a year ago. Providing this as fact vice opinion because this CEO actively converses with the Divi timeshare owners (for all the "Divi" islands, not just Aruba).
This post may cross the grain for some readers; but, to paraphrase Paul Harvey "Its the rest of the story".

On your next visit ask Gerrit (Divi/Dutch Village GM) or Alex (Managing Director for
Divi Aruba Beach Resort and Tamarjin Aruba Beach Resort & Regional Dir. of Ops for Divi on Aruba & Bonaire) about it. While exceptionally busy they are both honestly concerned about ensuring a visitor's stay at Tam, Divi Divi, either "Village" or the Phoenix is enjoyable.

Consider getting in touch with Alex re: the bartender issue. You might be surprised how far a civil discussion can get you.

Wow! I have been to the Tam 5 times in the past 7 years and have nothing but wonderful reviews for the service and staff. I don't know about you, but a smile and a thank you was all I ever needed for great service.

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Im sorry, I just have to say, I am SO sick and tired of everyone trashing the Tam and Divi and calling people who go uneducated alcoholic trailer trash. I am a 3rd year medical student and highly doubt I will ever be considered uneducated trailer trash and I too have never had a bad experience at the Tam or Divi. Having also been to the high rise resorts(Marriott/Wyndham - which, by the way, run $3-5K more exp than the Divi or Tam) I would still pick the Divi/Tam any day of the week.
Also, to any snobs who would reply that I just don’t know the difference between good and bad accomodations or service, I have spent a lot of time traveling abroad to Europe etc. and am well aware of what "nice" is. Just b/c you have 1 bad experience doesn't give you the right to classify all people who chose to spend their vacations at these resorts as trash.

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Hi Jeff:

Thanks for your post. I was looking for someone with history at the Tam. Our Family is going in about 3 weeks after researching several locations. We like the family offerings that Tam supplies. Question for you.

What is the proper atire for the restaurants located on the property? Breakfast, lunch and dinner? I have read that there are some really nice spots located off premises and that you might need a coat and tie, is this correct? Don't want to pack more than necessary.

Our family went on a cruise this time last year and dinner was always tie and coat. I don't mind, but would like to be prepared.

Any other helpful hints would be appreciated.

Please email me at tclifford10@adelphia.net

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Tom from Solon, OH
