Re: Shame on Tamajn

Hey Tom:
We are going to the Tam on April 2nd. How old are your kids? I have two girls, 12 and 15.

We have a timeshare at La Cabana, but I would love to stay at the Tam right on the oceanfront any time.

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Tom ,
Proper attire usually means any type of clothing . Some off site restaurants require men to have a shirt with a collar and shoes , not sandals. But at the Tam , a basic pair of shorts , swim suits with sandals , and a shirt of any type were OK when we were there. The only place that would be more dressy onsight is if you made reservations at one of the restaurants at the resort for dinner , but I never saw anyone having to wear a shirt and tie . Check with the restaurants beforehand if you leave the resort , they'll let you know . If you have family going with you , I would definately suggest renting a 4x4 for a couple of days to travel the island on your own , that way you can take your time . Cars and vans are available , but not quite suited to travel in some spots on the back of the island . Do the evening horseback tour thru Rancho Notorious , great way to see some of the island . Also , depending on how old your group is , try the Kuku Bus , great fun for adults but I wouldn't recommend kids under about 18 or 19 , they probably would be mortified how crazy parents can get , but it's a BLAST if you get a chance . If you want to rent a 4x4 , if you don't do it online before you go , you may wait a day or two after you get there they get booked up pretty solid , not much available on short notice . If a Jeep is what you want , I would recommend American , good prices according to people I talked to . Enjoy the trip , I know we did , and we will go back again , the nicest people there , and the friendliest staff you will meet anywhere.

Enjoy

Re: Shame on Tamajn

jeff my husband and i have been going to the tam for 15 yrs.the dress for dinner at the tam is casual dress. shorts and collar shirts are fine. the tam is a very layed back resort. people are very very friendly. we will be arriving 4/18/04 for 11 days. we have never had a problem there. yes we can afford to stay in snobbing high rises but we prefer to be with fun people. your family will enjoy themselves. dont worry you will have a great time.

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Hi there, also will be at the Tamarind April 17-25, my husband and 15 year old daughter and myself. OUr first visit to Aruba, having been to several other Caribbean islands.. Looking forward to it.. Only wondered if requesting a specific building at the tam was beneficial (I've read that 1800-1900 ones are quieter and on nicer beachfront) and if they generally grant one's wishes. Any info would be great. Do you have any kids? it's school vacation in Maine and Mass. so I'll bet my daughter will be fine but she hopes to meet some kids. Thanks for your help. Karen

Re: Shame on Tamajn

Glad to hear your report. Going for the first time /april 17, with 15 year old daughter, husband and self. Does it pay to request a specific building or floor and do they honor requests. Any info re: snorkelling would be great too. Thanks. Karen
