Snorkeling at Renaissance?

Going to Renaissance in July and heard from a few other posts that there is great snorkeling on the private island. Is this true? Which side or both family and adult-only coves? Also, looks like a far swim to rock wall - how far out? Many thanks to all!

Re: Snorkeling at Renaissance?

Hey GS, I was at the Renaissance in January and did a lot of snorkeling. I was going to make a reservation on one of the guided snorkeling boats, but after being on the island for a day, I noticed that a lot of them go right by Renaissance Island.. So why would I waste my money!! I rented snorkeling gear right on the island for about $10 for the day. I went just beyond the rock wall and to the right of the rock wall on the "adult side".. The rock wall is about 75 yards from shore.. You can walk halfway out there! Any other questions, let me know. Don't forget an underwater camera! It is beautiful! Such a great time!

Yes, and swim out to the remains of a metal ship. You can stand on it (no coral to kill), and be about waist deep. It is in front of the "adult" side past the rock wall probably 100' or so beyond it.

Re: Snorkeling at Renaissance?

Debbie and Marc,

Muchos gracias for all the info. One more quick one, any currents there to worry about? In St. Lucia I snorkeled Pigeon Point and many people die there due to the current and lack of knowledge.

Re: Snorkeling at Renaissance?

There is a slight longshore current that goes from south to north there. Water is a little choppy, but it is not all that bad. Wear a snorkel vest if you feel uneasy.
