Does anyone have an update of the Marriott takeover of the Sonesta in Aruba. Last I heard, this was to occur at the end of April. Will it fffect time share owners or people with future reservations?

The new name of the resort is Renissance and from what we heard there will be no changes other than the name.

Specifically asked some owners what was going to happen when I was there in March. They said they had been assured the change would not affect them.

We were down in March and spoke with the Mariott people. They indicated that the Hotel was changing names only. Timeshare owners will be unaffected. There are apparently a few "problem units" that have their weeks in the hotel building. The hint was that those owners may get afferred a "deal" for Mariott timeshares but would have to come up with some extra money. We own in the tower at Sonesta and would be happy with the status quo.
