Question Staying in Seroe Colorado? Too far from the action?

Hi everyone - first post here - figured I'd skip the welcome section and get right down to my question. I'm on the verge of booking a home in the Seroe Colorado area. It is walking distance from Roger's Beach.

We are a group of 6 Adults (ages 21-26) looking to spend our spring break in Aruba. We are all pretty laid back - not looking for anything resembling the stereotypical Cancun spring break. We like the idea of being so close to Baby Beach and Roger's Beach, especially given the lack of public facilities in the area. We have also heard that the on-shore fishing has greater potential on the southeastern part of the island. We love to fish.

Not having been to Aruba before, I was curious as to everyone's opinion on staying in that area. Is it too remote? I know San Nicholas is close but all of the "action" is up in the Palm/Eagle beach areas. Is it a pain to drive up there? We will definitely be hitting the casinos and northwestern beaches, probably multiple times. And the Jolly Pirates, fishing charters, heli tours, all depart from that area as well. We will have cars.

Any info you have as to the pros/cons of staying in Seroe Colorado would be greatly appreciated. I know it's usually a seen as part of a day-trip from the resort area. Is it somewhere you could stay for a week? Thanks!

- Joe

I'd love to buy a house in that area, but there is very little in the immediate area. You're looking at a minimum of 30 minutes to get to Oranjestad or Palm Beach, probably more.

I can be a bit of a hermit at times, especially on vacation.

Thumbs up Where to Stay

In my humble opinion, I think you should be looking in the low rise to Palm Beach area. People your age love it there! You can snorkel or fish at Boca Catalina or Arashi. Want you to have a fabulous time!

if you plan on having a few drinks while at the casino's and such...that is a tough ride home in the dark.(hopefully there wont be any drinking and driving....) i have a son almost your age and i would agree with wnysnow....dont go further than eagle beach area...

I have to agree with "wnysnow" - especially if you plan to do all the things mentioned in your post. The low rise area is more laid back but still within an easy drive to the attractions you are looking for. You might consider looking for a rental in the Eagle Beach area. JMO.

Send a message via Skype™ to Andrea J.
you and your buddies could look into renting a timeshare on eagle or palm beaches.
look on this forum in the timeshare category
or try
redweek.com

also too, look into renting a villa or a house in that area of palm or eagle.

the area where you are aiming for now is not a convenient location for tourists.
lovely area, but i would wager that you will want to be up at eagle or palm beach area.

I'm going with a group of 24 year olds in a few weeks. We're staying just south of Eagle Beach. I'd agree with everyone else - that side of the island is probably where you want to be. And downtown is only a short car or cab ride.

We drove down to Baby Beach on our last trip and while it was fun, the area surrounding it was quite meh. Sure, it's not as artificial as the west side of the island, but that's half the fun of going

Hmm. I appreciate the feedback...definitely will have to think about it. I really want to be able to do some fishing without having to worry about when the beach-going crowd is going to show up. But as you all mentioned, I am concerned that we will get sick of the 30 minute drive back and forth.

Thanks for the replies!
