How far along are the Surf Club renovations? Is the pool complete? Is beach access easier? Please give me any valuable info. I'm not sure whether I should stay at the Ocean of Surf Club.

I just came back from Aruba this past Monday (9/18/06) and I sayed at the Marriott. The Surf Club was still under construction. They still had the crane over the building. I am planning a trip to go back in the end of January '07 and I plan on staying at the surf club - it should be completed by then. The beach access is farther than than Ocean Club but what's an extra 500 ft along a beautifully landscaped path. I think they are both very nice clubs and you can go to any of the pools - they are all so close to each other. Maps can be deceiving. Before I went down there I thought the other hotels were far away from each other and then when I got there I realized just how close everything was to each other. You can walk by 5 resorts in a matter of 10 minutes when you walk down the beach! (by the way - I was there with "Meet Aruba" for a business tour of the island and saw 10 resorts so I am very familiar with all of them. If you have any questions - let me know.

I recommend the Ocean Club over the Surf Club for now. We have stayed in both places. Stayed in Surf Club in July. Small pool area and they were not happy to have Ocean Club kids visiting. Beach area in July small, crowded, and, not a good view. Surf Club will be great some day.
