Re: Timeshares Vs. Rentals

Hi Sue,

I think by reading all of your responses you'll realize that owning is preferred to renting.

Aruba mostly has leased land and a few resorts actually have deed land. This mean that the government leases the land to the resort for a period of time, usually 30-60 years depending on the resort. At the end of this time, the government will either release the land to the resort or pay the resort for all of the improvements to it. so don't worry about the resort being a leased land vs deeded.

Also owning a timeshare forces you to take a vacation.

So as you can see I'm a big fan of timeshare!!!

Good Luck,
Joe H.

Re: Timeshares Vs. Rentals

We own a week of timeshare NOT in Aruba and after out first trip to Aruba we would like to trade to Aruba. It's almost impossible to get there on a trade although it does happen. So if you want to vacation in Aruba BUY in Aruba. We have never regretted our purchase in 1986 and it certainly has afforded us great accomodations that we otherwise would have never been able to afford. Buy at a resort that is in high demand and you will pay a higher price but it will be worth in the long run. Having a kitchen has been a lifesaver over the years. In my opinion I would not buy anything less that a 1 bedroom but a 2 bedroom would be ideal. Keep that in mind if you think you will be exchanging or renting at any time, it makes it more desirable.
