You know, the same rights as any owners??? As owners do we have the right to destroy and defile the property? No, I don't think so. That's a very pacifistic response. I would have expected more from Marriott. I own at both SC and OC, and I cannot believe they would tolerate this. My exhaust fan leaked some weird plastic onto my breakfast pan and trashed the pan and our breakfast and they had the nerve to charge me $30 for the pan!!! I find it hard to believe they would tolerate this crap, and now I'm getting angrier by the second. Do these people get charged for their damage or not? That's what I want to know.

    yes believe me they pay.
the group's parent organization has to post a BOND as a security/damage deposit.

from what i have been told and from what i have read on other message boards, this has been an ongoing point of concern for years.

    .
The bond does not cover the cost of the vacations they ruin.

If their bad behavior is so well known that they're told to post a bond...that's not appropriate....banning then would be.

    Prosecution would even be better.

Don't be embarassed....this has nothing to do with religion....only an ignorant or bigoted person would think so.

Unfortunately.....I know such people do exist....sorry to say.

this is probably not an option for this site
the site is owned, managed and operated by the Aruba Tourism Authority
the ATA is an arm of the government
so in the scheme of things, this is a government sponsored site
i did write to the "powers that be"
with great certainty i can say sponsoring the petition on this forum will not be allowed

in my writing to the marketing director, i also asked if a link can be provided to an online petition.

i am guessing the answer will be no to that as well.

Andrea; I apologize for suggesting a petition on this site...It does make sense that ATA couldn't allow the link or promotion of a petition as they need to remain neutral, but, folks instead of wasting your time speaking/writing to this manager of the OC / SC why don't you all just call or e-mail Marriott Corporate office and ask to speak to JW Marriott CEO and Chairman of Marriott International..... Explain the situation and I agree with the person as to keep your conversation/e-mail on track....Just describe the issues.. Rudeness does go along with behavior and if rudeness becomes unbearable then there is a behavioral problem that effects ALL owners trying to enjoy their vacations..... Again Andrea I do apologize for mentioning the petition.... Marl

no sweat marl apology accepted and apology totally not necessary.

the other 3 aruba bulletin boards are private "marketing sites" and their owners can call the shots as they see them.

this bulletin board walks a very fine line.
it is owned, managed and monitored by the tourism authority, an arm of the government.

so for a petition on the site directed at one of the largest resorts on island could be problematic.

BUT..........i did send the link to this thread off to the ATA office and the marketing director and his assistant. I will let them decide.

and marl..............never apologize for having a constructive idea!! if this was one of the privately owned sites (richard's or melvn's or carib media marketing) it would be a whole different scenario.

again, NO may be the answer or YES may be the answer (i suspect NO)

usually, i am in the mindset that it is easier to "ask forgivness instead of permission" , but in this case permission must be asked.

thank you for your kindness Marl!

    Hi, me again...

Guys let's not get carried away with assumptions! We do not know for sure that damage has been done to anything, we need the facts! I think it is fair that people who have been to the complex during the time in question make their views known to the appropriate people. I would assume that if some quests damage property that that would be taken care of and that management and others would be aware of it.

As far as banning people, the manager is right, if you are an owner than you have as much right to be in your unit as the next person. It is whether or not all of the people are owners or are they renters. That we don't have answers for.

I agree that the disruptive behaviour that goes on including noise at night needs to be addressed and dealt with. The "group" only makes up a certain percentage of guests and if it becomes too unpleasant than others will not want to come to the hotel or timeshares during this period.
happiness is going to Aruba with your adult kids because they still want to come with their parents

As I understand it the week changed this year and it is week 4 so I think the link to the camp that ArubaLisa provided would be handy to put in your favorites so you could avoid it next year. I believe the week is picked for when the Yeshivas have vacation.

I would have to think that it all comes down to money...if the Marriott asked this particular group to either behave a little better, or not come at all, they would lose ALOT of money. And could also quite possibly have someone claim religious discrimination and then they would have an even bigger problem on their hands. I am not saying at all that that is the way it would go, just a thought and my opinon on the matter. Trying to be out of the box and look at the big picture.
